There is no more accessible form of entertainment than the sitcom. They’ve been a fixture of television sets since the inception of the medium, but they took off in the 1960s when TV sets were commonplace in households. Since then, sitcoms have come in all manner of forms, but for the most part they provide wholesome entertainment that’s fun for the whole family.
The 2000s won’t go down in history as the best era for sitcoms, but it did deliver some gems. Shows like Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, The Office, That ‘70s Show, Arrested Development, Scrubs, and How I Met Your Mother were at the forefront of TV comedy back then. While, shows like Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, and King of Queens were still enjoying their initial runs. The decade gave us some of the best and most popular comedy in the history of television that we remember fondly to this day, and those are the shows most people will forever associate with that time period.
That said, the 2000s also produced a lot of sitcoms that were pretty forgettable -- even back then.
