Ben Schnetzer is the New Star of FX’s Y: The Last Man Adaptation
Earlier this month, FX’s long gestating adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s acclaimed comic book series, Y: The Last Man, took a hit when Barry Keoghan left the project after two years. However, FX has already lined someone new to step into the role of escape artist Yorick Brown. Via Variety, Ben Schnetzer will portray Yorick on the series.
Schnetzer is perhaps best known for his roles in The Book Thief, Snowden, The Riot Club, and Pride. He also starred in the ABC series, Happy Town, as well as FX’s pilot for Gone Hollywood.
Within the original comic, Yorick and his helper monkey, Ampersand, were the lone male mammals to survive an apocalyptic plague. As women inherit the Earth, the secret of Yorick’s survival may give humanity a second chance for survival.

Diane Lane costars in the series as Senator Jennifer Brown, Yorick’s mother. Imogen Poots will portray Hero, Yorick’s sister, while No Time To Die‘s Lashana Lynch plays Agent 355; the woman assigned to protect Yorick. Additionally, Juliana Canfield, Marin Ireland, and Amber Tamblyn have roles in the series.
Eliza Clark is the showrunner for Y: The Last Man, which will be executive produced by Melina Matsoukas. FX has also signed Matsoukas to direct the pilot episode, but the network has yet to set a date for the series.

A pregnant woman walks into a bank...
While in the bank a group of robbers come in and demanded everyone to hit the ground and the tellers empty the tills. When the lady couldn't get down fast enough one of the robbers panicked and shot her three times in her belly and caused her to collapse. When she woke up hours later she found the robbery had failed and she was in a hospital bed. A doctor came to her soon after and she asked about her baby.
"Good news." The doctor told her. "Not only is the baby in good health but you're actually having triplets. The three bullets however have been found in each of their stomachs. Thankfully they will live but in time they will each pass the bullet naturally so you have to explain what happened when it does."
A few months later the woman gave birth to three beautiful children, two girls and a boy. Years pass and the woman almost forgot all about the robbery until one day when the triplets were 13, she found her first daughter crying in fear.
"What's wrong sweetie?" She asked her daughter.
"I did a bad thing mommy. I was in the bathroom and I passed a bullet in the toilet." She told her mother.
The woman then remembered what happened all those years ago and carefully told her about it and that she did nothing wrong. The daughter calmed down and moved on. A week goes by and her second daughter comes up to her in tears.
"Mother I did a horrible thing." She said.
"Did you pass a bullet in the toilet?" The asked her second daughter.
Shocked to how she knew, the second daughter listened to the story about the robbery and calmed down. She too moved on from this.
Then a week later the son came to her in a panic.
"Mother I did a horrible thing!" He told her worried what would happen.
"Let me guess." The mother asked knowing what he was going to say. "You passed a bullet in the toilet?"
"No, I was masturbating and I accidentally shot the dog!"

Nintendo Switch Gets Limited Master Ball Controller Design
The third-party gaming accessory company PowerA has announced a brand-new wireless controller for Nintendo Switch that rocks a design inspired by the Pokémon franchise's coveted Master Ball. There has been quite a bit of pocket monster news for fans of the series as of late, with the latest entries on Switch, Sword and Shield, set to receive a new Mythical monster known as Zarude. While fans await further details on catching that critter, the arrival of Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back - Evolution on Netflix (an animated retelling of the original film) is something fans can dive into right now.
Of course, the Pokémon Day 2020 celebration didn't stop there, with all kinds of reveals from partners of The Pokémon Company happening throughout the course of the big day. The Nintendo subsidiary had partnerships ranging from new shirts to Pokémon sculptures created by one of New York's most famous artists. So, of course, some gaming accessory companies jumped on the opportunity to announce a slew of new Poké products.
This is where PowerA came into play, announcing a limited-edition Master Ball controller for Nintendo Switch via its official Twitter account. While the biggest reveal from the company is the aforementioned Master Ball controller (which is a limited release exclusively on Amazon), PowerA also revealed Ultra Ball, Great Ball, and Poké Ball variants of the Switch remote. All of which look like perfect companions for anyone that's keen to show off their pocket monster fandom.
It's fitting that there's only a limited supply of the Master Ball controller, as the item is notoriously limited in the actual Pokémon games as well. More often than not, players are only able to obtain one Master Ball per playthrough, so this is a fun way to pay tribute to the source material – while also creating a 'fear of missing out' amongst collectors. All in all, Pokémon Day 2020 appears to have been a huge success for fans, with plenty of cool products now available or en route.
At the very least, PowerA's Nintendo Switch Master Ball controller should prove to be less divisive than Google's list of the 10 most popular Pokémon. Now, if only that DLC for Pokémon Sword and Shield could arrive sooner rather than later to give players something more to sink their teeth into.

Chris Bremner Will Write Paramount’s M.A.S.K. Film
Paramount has finally taken another step toward getting its long-gestating M.A.S.K. film off the ground. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has just recruited writer Chris Bremner to tackle the movie’s screenplay.
Bremner most recently co-wrote Bad Boys for Life, which was a surprise critical and financial hit when it opened earlier this year. Sony also hired him to write a fourth installment in that franchise even before the film was released. The sequel’s success also convinced Disney to hire him to write National Treasure 3.
M.A.S.K. hit the action figure scene in 1985. The name is an acronym for Mobile Armored Strike Kommand, and its team members are an underground strike force tasked with fighting terrorists, including their enemies in V.E.N.O.M. (or Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem). The classic Hasbro toy line also eventually spawned comic books, video games, and a beloved animated series.

F. Gary Gray has been attached to direct the M.A.S.K. film since 2018. He’s also producing the movie through his Fenix Studios banner alongside Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures. M.A.S.K. is only the latest Hasbro line that Paramount intends to bring to the big screen. Aside from their G.I. Joe and Transformers films, the studio is also producing adaptations of Micronauts, ROM, and Visionaries. The original plan was for all of these films to inhabit the same shared universe à la the MCU. However, it’s not clear if this is still Paramount’s intention.
M.A.S.K. is still without a release date.

Mac Pro Wheels Cost $400 - But Have A Serious Rolling Problem
The Apple Mac Pro launched with an emphasis on modulation, giving owners a variety of methods to customize a tower to their needs, but it has a rolling problem. The desktop computer possesses a steel space frame to enable access to the tower’s interiors and is advertised with several exterior additions. Some add-ons, like the $400 stainless steel frame with wheels, emphasize mobility, but the frame doesn’t have a locking mechanism.
On the Apple store, you can see a breakdown of what goes into the total cost. A Mac Pro with the bare essential costs $6,000, but the price quickly inflates as you increase the specs. Going from a 3.5GH 8-core Intel Xeon W processor to a 3.3Gz 12-core one will boost add another $1,000, while adding wheels to the frame adds an additional $400. Though, it’s hard to justify this when its lack of a locking mechanism makes it liable to roll on desks or smooth floors.
YouTuber, Marques Brownlee recently published a review of the Mac Pro to the MKBHD YouTube channel praising the machine’s power, speed, and customizability, but noted some unnecessary additions. Apple’s 52-thousand-dollar machine sports a cheese grater like design in place of liquid or internal fans. To cut back on sound, Apple made several additional structural choices to ensure that the machine makes as little noise as possible, contributing to the excessive price. Along with the review, Brownlee also took to Twitter to demonstrate the rolling issue.
Apple has a history of extravagantly designed towers; the previous Mac Pro was a small cylinder entirely cooled by a fan at the top, leaving little room for modification. In addition, Apple’s desktop computers are difficult to modify, something that they sacrifice in favor of accessibility. The 2020 Mac Pro offers both customization and the accessibility that comes with an Apple computer. Still, its upscale design makes it hard to adopt when there are cheaper alternatives to a product with a starting price in excess of $5,000.
The Mac Pro allowing customization inspires hope that Apple might make more, cheaper customizable models in the future. Previously, the main advantage of owning an Apple tower was access to power that is hard to find in a MacBook. If Apple’s future towers continue to be customizable, users will be able to replace old parts and prolong the life of the machine. Historically, Apple has favored offering its users deals to upgrade and replace their old devices entirely, but until Apple makes its customizable units cheaper, it’s hard to see a reason for why you should buy a Mac Pro over a MacBook, or a PC.

Halloween 9 Was Planned Out But Didn’t Happen – Here’s Why
Halloween 9 was planned, but eventually canceled. A direct follow-up to Halloween: Resurrection didn’t happen, but not because of box office or lack of fan interest.
The success of Halloween: H20 (1998) created talk of a sequel – even though the film was supposed to have wrapped up the saga. However, fans were unaware of the last-minute problems that almost cancelled the anniversary follow-up altogether. Returning actress Jamie Lee Curtis agreed to do the film, with the understanding that her character would ultimately kill series boogeyman Michael Myers. A closer look at the contract, in which series founder Moustapha Akkad had helped craft, revealed that the Myers character could not be killed. Curtis almost pulled out of the film until writer Kevin Williamson came to the rescue.
Williamson was one of the key creatives in getting H20 into production – and wrote the first detailed treatment. He was able to come up with a compromise that pleased both Curtis and Akkad. This story idea, in which Curtis’ character unknowingly kills a paramedic instead of Myers, was used for the premise of Halloween: Resurrection. While both Curtis and fans of H20 were disappointed by the trajectory of the storyline, the film managed to make a decent amount of money in the summer of 2002. True to form, the ending of the eighth installment teased at a sequel. But a follow-up to the internet-influenced Myers storyline was not meant to be.
There were several potential plot ideas leaked to the press regarding a Halloween 9. Akkad himself trumpeted the production at a film convention, even awarding a cameo role to a contest winner. However, tragedy struck when Akkad and his daughter were killed in a bombing while visiting Amman, Jordan in 2005. His death postponed the project, which was eventually shelved altogether. Akkad’s son Malek decided instead to reboot the franchise, hiring Rob Zombie to write and direct a remake of John Carpenter’s classic film. The remake, released in 2007, proved to be a big hit – erasing any talk of a follow-up to Halloween: Resurrection.
A direct sequel to Zombie’s remake followed in 2009, but was not a commercial success – which put the franchise into limbo. It wasn’t until producer Jason Blum decided to move forward with another film in 2016 that Myers was given an eleventh life. Blum's idea was to make a direct sequel to the original film, bypassing all of the follow-ups - including Resurrection. Simply titled Halloween, the 2018 release went on to break box office records – and please both fans and critics alike. Two more sequels to the Blumhouse film have been announced including Halloween Kills, which is scheduled for release October 2020.

Love Is Blind: What Happened To Amber & Matt After The Netflix Show
Amber Pike and Matt Barnett were one of two couples who got married on the season finale of Love Is Blind, but has their expeditious love story withstood the test of time? They certainly seemed to have chemistry during the show.
Barnett started off on a dangerous track, balancing the feelings of three women while trying to figure out who he felt strongest about. At first, he thought it would be Jessica Batten, who had her own love triangle to navigate between Barnett and Mark Cuevas. Then, torn between LC and Amber, Barnett chose the first woman he had built a bond with, which was Amber. Upon meeting, the two had an obvious physical connection, perhaps more so than any other couple. They dove head first into exploring their relationship, in Cancun and then in Atlanta. When Barnett visited Amber's home, he was struck by the news that Amber wasn't particularly financially well off. It was the first red flag, and it forced Barnett to think about whether marrying Amber would be the right thing to do. Despite some suspense, Barnett said "I do" and joined Lauren Speed and Cameron Hamilton as the only other pair to end the show in marriage.
Chris Coelen, founder of Kinetic Content, which produced Love Is Blind, told Reality Blurred that Amber and Barnett are indeed still married. The show was filmed in 2018, which means the couples have had to keep their love a secret all this time - and likely a little while longer while fans complete their Netflix binge. Coelen said, “The people that went through and got married are still together to this day, a year and a half later."
Some had suspected that Lauren and Cameron remained with each other due to context clues from Instagram. The question of whether Amber and Barnett's lasted was more of a mystery. Amber's financial woes during the show appeared to be a real concern for Barnett. And some of the comments Barnett made in the pods were a bit concerning and potential signs that he wasn't ready for marriage.
But it appears that both were prepared to make the forever commitment to someone else. We don't know exactly where there relationship stands today - more will be revealed in the recently announced reunion special - but it is good to know that this process at least worked for some, if not all. Barnett trusted his gut in choosing to propose to Amber in the pod, and more than a year later (Seriously? They've had to keep their marriage secret for a year???) it sounds like his decision has worked out for him.

Invisible Man 2020 Never Included Johnny Depp or Dark Universe Connections
There were never any intentions to include Johnny Depp in The Invisible Man (2020), nor were there plans for connections to the Dark Universe. The latest adaptation of the H.G. Wells classic, The Invisible Man, is scheduled for release on February 28th. The Invisible Man has already been receiving rave reviews from critics and is currently "Certified Fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 91%. Developed by Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions, the horror reboot stars Elisabeth Moss and Oliver Jackson-Cohen.
Universal's Dark Universe is the company's attempts to create a shared, cinematic universe revolving around classic monsters. Despite a few tries to jumpstart the franchise, it was ultimately unsuccessful. This initially included Dracula Untold (2014), but after the movie was met with mixed to negative reviews, it was left out of the Dark Universe. In 2017, Universal tried again with The Mummy reboot, which also received a negative critical response. There were initially plans for Johnny Depp to star in an adaptation of The Invisible Man, but it never happened.
In a recent episode of CinemaBlend's ReelBlend podcast, host Kevin McCarthy interviewed The Invisible Man writer and director Leigh Whannell. McCarthy asked the director where the Dark Universe was when Whannell first met with Universal and Blumhouse execs to discuss The Invisible Man. In response, Whannell said, "It hadn't been mentioned." McCarthy followed by asking if there was any mention at all about the new Blumhouse film being connected to the shared universe. Whannell answered, "No, nothing. And it was only ever treated as a standalone film."
Whannell continued, "At no stage did someone call me and say 'oh hey, by the way, we'd love it if we could have a cameo from Dr. Jekyll in the movie' or 'we'd love if you could come in and look at some of our plans.' It was only ever treated by Universal as a standalone film, and they were so supportive of it and had a lot of great ideas, these people are really smart people, so a lot of the notes I was getting from them were helping the film." McCarthy then asked for confirmation that Depp was never involved in Whennell's version. The director replied, "No."
Universal's decision to make a smaller movie, not tied down to the shared Dark Universe, looks to have been a successful one. With positive reviews still coming in, it seems that the reimagined horror story will be a much bigger hit than Universal's previous attempts at remakes. While the future of the Dark Universe looks bleak, there's a lot of promise in similar, standalone movies like The Invisible Man.

Robert Pattinson's Batsuit Can Make The Batman DC's Mandalorian
The newly revealed Robert Pattinson Batsuit has given The Batman the chance to use a similar storytelling technique as The Mandalorian. Since the first footage of the new Batman outfit hit the internet, fans' curiosity has been piqued. Some are concerned with the gun-like chest symbol while others have debated the appearance of the eyes. What hasn't been considered is the story functionality of the suit, which may be utilized similarly to the Disney+ hit series The Mandalorian.
In the Star Wars series, Mando's armor is important to the progression of his character. He begins the show with a rusted, pieced-together outfit. It looks amateur to say the least, but as he succeeded at his work and developed as an individual, he gained improvements to his garb. Eventually by the end of the first season, he is decked out in a brand new set made from Beskar, a rare metal that is held sacred to the Mandalorians and their culture.
Reflecting character progression in costuming is not a new concept, but The Mandalorian was able to reinvent the trope to deepen the series' world-building and flesh out the inscrutable lead character's development. During the plot of The Batman or its sequels, DC's creative team could adopt the same technique with the Batsuit.
Din Djarin appears more put together and heroic by the end, something that Bruce Wayne could learn from. As recent plot details have stated, this specific version of the Dark Knight is only in his second year of crime fighting. His outfit appears like a prototype, looking like a conglomeration of different pieces and small details. This is unlikely to be his final suit, and from what has been seen it is arguably one of the most practical of the bunch when comparing it to previous big screen portrayals of Batman. Because of this it is not out of the question that he will make some modifications as he grows personally.
Should this incarnation of Batman see multiple films, there is plenty of storytelling potential to be had through his narrative and his armor. As he matures and becomes a seasoned crime fighter, his appearance should reflect that. There is no real unity in his suit at this juncture, indicating that he is still working out kinks overall. There seems to be easy accessibility to upgrades down the line, like a comic-accurate cape, which could coincide nicely with his personal journey as a character. It enhanced not only the aesthetics of the Mandalorian as a character, but supplemented his character evolution as well.
In the DC universe, the Batsuit is an extension of Bruce Wayne himself, which is no different from a Mandalorian's armor in Star Wars. Therefore, it would only make sense for Robert Pattinson's take on the Caped Crusader to connect his character progression to his crime-fighting uniform. This kind of subtext could only serve to boost the overall story of The Batman, just as it did with The Mandalorian. It gives the costume a life of its own, which few Batman films have focused on. Following the successful execution of such a story mechanic in the Star Wars universe, it may be in the best interest of those behind DC films to do the same.

New Borderlands 3 DLC Promises Guns, Love...and Tentacles
Gearbox Software just released a new trailer and information about the upcoming Borderlands 3 DLC, and the video promises lots of Lovecraftian monsters as well as a story of love, guns, and, of course, tentacles. Borderlands 3 has remained a popular title with fans of the series thanks to a number of in-game events for holidays like Valentines Day and Halloween, which usually also sees players being rewarded with exclusive in-game items like skins or new weapons and gameplay modes.
Earlier this month the Borderlands 3 level cap was announced to be raising from fifty to fifty-three, and before that Gearbox Software held an event called the Rare Chest Riches, which allowed players to accumulate even more legendary gear than they were usually able to. Despite the game's exclusivity to the Epic Games Store on PC, Borderlands 3 reached over five million sales in its first week alone and continues to be played by thousands of fans. Now, thanks to a company announcement at PAX East, players have a better idea of where the next round of Borderlands 3 DLC will take them.
With a full title of Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock, this new Borderlands 3 DLC isn't trying to hide its cosmic horror influences, as evident in the trailer embedded below. As the second Borderlands 3 campaign add-on, Guns, Love, and Tentacles introduces a brand new area called Cursehaven, which resides underneath the corpse of a fallen Vault Monster, as well as the return of Vault Hunter Gaige. New characters, missions, enemies, gear, and Class Mods will also be included. The DLC is expected to launch on March 26th.
Additionally, Gearbox also announced that Borderlands 3 will be finally coming to Steam on March 13th, and that players who already have accumulated friends on the Epic Games Launcher will be able to play with people on Steam regardless of the different front-end distribution programs they are using. This will likely be a great help to Steam's Borderlands 3 multiplayer community, as Epic players have had far more time to get familiar with the game and can help their friends out.
With an official Borderlands movie from Eli Roth coming at some point in the future and two other DLC content packs the size of Guns, Love, and Tentacles to go, it doesn't appear as if Borderlands 3 fans will be left wanting for new content any time soon. Hopefully the new Borderlands 3 DLC will live up to its inspirations in terms of horror and spectacle, and, if nothing else, it's sure to feature tons of guns and aquatic appendages. Whether the tentacles will hold guns, however, remains to be seen.

Langrisser Remaster: Why It's Important to Fire Emblem Fans
Strategy RPGs have received a big boost in recent years due to the phenomenal success of Fire Emblem, which is really one of the only names around anymore. In the 90s, however, there was another series that tried to take the mantle from Nintendo, at least in Japan.
Langrisser is a strategy-RPG series that never really caught on in the West, despite having success in Japan. It takes direct inspiration from Fire Emblem, and in turn, Fire Emblem has taken a bit of inspiration from Langrisser.
The series has been mostly absent for the last twenty years, but it's about to come back with the remastered package of Langrisser I & II, and Fire Emblem fans should take note.
The first Langrisser released in 1991 on the Sega Genesis (known as the Mega Drive in Japan. It released the same year in the West and had clearly taken inspiration from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, which released roughly one year before Langrisser.
Langrisser uses the same grid-based style and an affinity system where certain units are strong against others, like how fliers are strong against soldiers but weak against archers. Fire Emblem would influence the further development of this affinity system when it invented the weapon triangle. Langrisser iterated upon previous titles by having commander units that lead soldiers into battle. Each battle would let you hire more units, and battles are generally on a much larger scale than something like Fire Emblem.
Despite releasing in the US much earlier than Fire Emblem, only the first Langrisser title would ever be released in the West, mostly because the first title simply didn't find a market. The last main game, Langrisser 5, was released in 1999, four years before the first Fire Emblem game would be released in the US. This is the biggest reason why no one but the strategy genre enthusiasts knows much about Langrisser, as it'd take nearly a decade for Fire Emblem to even find a fanbase in the west.
In Japan the two series would release in tandem, using very similar features and mechanics over the years. Langrisser also uses a job change system that lets heroes transform into higher classes, and both series revolve around medieval fantasy worlds torn apart by war. The two franchises each even have a mythical sword, with Falchion in Fire Emblem and the Langrisser in said series. The similarities between the two are uncanny at times. For example, both series introduced relationship systems in their respective games in 1996; Genealogy of the Holy War for Fire Emblem, and Langrisser 3. Fire Emblem would even come to use a system similar to Langrisser's core idea of hiring units for commanders. Fire Emblem: Three Houses introduces a battalion system that works similarly, with army units attached to each character that have their own HP.
The strategy-RPG genre has, traditionally, been fairly niche, but the success of Fire Emblem has opened it up to more fans than ever before. While Langrisser lay dead and unused, Fire Emblem introduced thousands of fans to that brand of strategy. Langrisser traditionally has a bigger focus on fan-service than the serious medieval settings of Fire Emblem games, but the aesthetics and worlds of the two series have obvious similarities.
These days Fire Emblem is one of the only games done in its grid-based tactical style. Other developers have dropped their own series, like Square Enix with Final Fantasy Tactics and Front Mission. Langrisser I & II, if successful, represents a chance for the strategy series to once again broaden its horizons. Fire Emblem is more popular than ever, and will probably continue to be, but there's not a lot for fans to choose from in between its releases. On top of that, it'd be interesting to see another series forward the idea of what a modern tactical strategy game can be. Langrissser I & II is a fairly straight remake that updates visuals, music, localization, and a few small story changes. However, if there was ever a chance for Langrisser to attract fans in the US, this is it.

Does The Invisible Man Have A Post-Credits Scene? | Screen Rant
Universal and Leigh Whannell's reboot delivers a new take on the classic monster, and here's whether The Invisible Man has a post-credits scene. The reboot of the film property based on H.G. Wells' 1897 novel was originally developed as part of Universal's Dark Universe. Set to include classic movie monsters like the Mummy and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde among others, the Dark Universe was scrapped after Tom Cruise's The Mummy underperformed. The studio teamed up with Blumhouse Productions, a company known for their well-received horror offerings, and hired Whannell to write and direct The Invisible Man.
Instead of focusing on the character of Adrian Griffin, played in Whannell's film by Oliver Jackson-Cohen, The Invisible Man follows Cecilia Kass (Elisabeth Moss). She escapes from her abusive and brilliant partner Adrian, only for him to fake his own death and start tormenting her as an invisible presence. As Adrian's tactics grow increasingly more dangerous for Cecilia's friends and family, she strives to prove he's not dead and has become the Invisible Man. Ahead of the film's release, The Invisible Man movie trailers have revealed much of the story, but there's still plenty Whannell and Universal held back from audiences.
Now that The Invisible Man is hitting theaters around the world, moviegoers may be wondering whether they need to stick around through the credits for any additional scenes or teases. The Invisible Man does NOT have a post-credits scene or any other Easter eggs. While the credits are always worth watching to see who was involved in the making of a film, The Invisible Man audiences shouldn't expect any credits scenes.
Since The Invisible Man isn't part of the Dark Universe, it makes sense that Whannell's film wouldn't include a credits scene setting up a future installment in the franchise. As of now, the Dark Universe is essentially dead, especially with the release of The Invisible Man because it replaces the film originally developed for Depp. Of course, a potential Invisible Man post-credits scene could've simply set up a sequel to this movie, but for whatever reason (some of which become clear after seeing the film), Whannell chose not to include any kind of credits scene or tease.
It remains to be seen what will become of the other movie monsters in Universal's purview after The Invisible Man's release. Since The Invisible Man movie reviews have been largely positive, the studio may choose to follow a similar route of rebooting the characters for their own standalone movies instead of trying to build a shared universe. Thanks in large part to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, studios tried for many years to establish interconnected franchises, but few were successful. The Invisible Man may be part of a new era that returns to focusing more on individual films. For now, all moviegoers need to know is they shouldn't expect a The Invisible Man post-credits scene.

Why is Marvel's King of Space Attacking Earth in EMPYRE?
Marvel's next star-studded event will be Empyre, as the heroes of Earth (and beyond) are about to come face-to-face with the full wrath of the newly formed Kree/Skrull alliance. Marvel has released a ton of previews for the event, but the question remains: what has caused Hulkling to willingly attack his former home?
Hulkling's connection to the Kree/Skrull throne isn't the big question. Back in the pages of New Avengers, it's revealed that his parents were a Skrull and a Kree. Their forbidden love was unheard of given the ongoing war between the two races. However, since Teddy Altman was the first child of the two races, he was named the Dorrek VIII as the future leader of the empires. In Incoming #1, Teddy embraces his Kree/Skrull roots and leaves his fiancé Wiccan to lead the army without explanation.
Teddy's got a big heart. While there are hints the Skrulls want revenge for the events of Secret Invasion, that's not a good enough reason for him to ascribe to their war on Earth. Ultimately, Hulkling has to have some ulterior motive and has to have a bigger plan than just destroying Earth. Is he leading the Kree/Skrulls into a fight they can't win intentionally? Is he willing to kill his former friends? It's all up in the air right now. As of right now, the Empyre event is built on increasingly rickety legs.
Leaving the love of his life as well as the planet he grew up on to lead the Kree/Skrulls is one thing, but what makes him completely turn against Earth and its heroes? It hasn't been revealed, yet. It's believable that he joined the Kree/Skrull armada stop the two's thousands-year-long war, however, but that doesn't explain why he would then turn his attention to Earth. It's where he's from. Where he met his fiancé. It's where he planned on staying until he was called into action. It's such an abrupt heel turn, heritage be damned, that there's got to be a lot more going on. We'll find out soon enough when Marvel's Empyre #1 hits shelves on April 15. Check out Jamie McKelvie and Matt Wilson's new cover.

American Horror Story Keeps Adding Purgatory Locations: Is This A Clue?
A common theme in American Horror Story across its various seasons is that the dead don't stay dead - while this could be just an attempt to keep certain characters' longevity outside of the mortal coil, Ryan Murphy's continual addition of these Purgatory locations could also be a clue.
Since the show has been renewed through a thirteenth season, there's tons of potential for where American Horror Story could go in future seasons. Murphy has already confirmed that all the seasons are connected, has had a crossover season with Murder House (season one) and Coven (season three), and has discussed bringing Coven's witches back for another appearance. While Murphy seems to be incredibly dedicated to connections between the separate worlds he's building in his anthological series, season nine's inclusion of another location where ghosts rule the roost in the afterlife has certainly brought up another possibility for obvious connections, but might lead to a much bigger expansion of the universe on the whole that could unite many seasons at once.
While American Horror Story works well as an anthology and has certainly played its part in the rise of horror on television, it is fun to see Easter eggs, connections, and direct tie-ins between the seasons. However, this could all be part of a more intricate plan if Murphy's excellent skills at looping seasons together are considered and some logic is applied.
Most prominently, Purgatory/haunted locations that have been featured on the series are in Murder House, Hotel, and 1984. However, there have also been instances where ghosts and restless spirits have been featured in Coven, Freak Show, and Roanoke. Freak Show is a little bit of an outlier, as Edward Mordrake's death could have been some other supernatural instance, for all that has been outlined on the show. But, there is a recurring theme with places being home to restless spirits who are forced to remain in their final resting place. This changes on Halloween, when they can roam freely before returning for the other 364 days of the year.
Given that 1984's big twist was not only that the counselors and campers who are murdered at Camp Redwood have to stay there, but that Lavinia Richter (Lily Rabe) might have caused it somehow due to her grief over losing her beloved son, Bobby, in a call-back to Pamela Voorhees in Friday the 13th might be a greater clue into what's happening here. If all the locations are created by intense grief and agony, or maybe even some kind of supernatural bargaining, there's a chance that higher beings might come into play in the future somehow.
American Horror Story has already played around with angels and demons: in Asylum, there was Shachath, the Angel of Death and in Apocalypse, it was discovered that Michael Langdon was the Antichrist. Could there be a battle between good and evil in a much larger capacity on the way that's brought on by the creation of too many of these haunted locations? Knowing American Horror Story - which has somehow remained to keep its secrets relatively under lock and key before release - anything is possible. Guesses regarding the show's seasons all being linked to one of the circles of Hell in Dante's Inferno has been discussed before, so perhaps this is all just another nod to that grander scale. Only time will tell.

Better Call Saul’s Gene Stalker Was Introduced In Season 4
Did you recognize "Jeff" in the season 5 premiere of Better Call Saul? For the most part, Better Call Saul acts as a Breaking Bad prequel, exploring Jimmy McGill's life before he wound up working alongside Walt and Jesse. However, the spinoff's black and white scenes are set after the events of Breaking Bad, with Saul living in hiding under the alias "Gene Takovic." Despite working at Cinnabon, Gene's life is clearly an unhappy one, and the former lawyer is paranoid that his true identity will be uncovered, and he'll be forced to pay for past misdeeds.
In Better Call Saul's "Magic Man," Gene is having his traditional lonely lunch in the mall where he works and is approached by a strange individual who (eventually) introduces himself as Jeff. With a silent friend lingering in the background, Jeff claims he used to live in Albuquerque and recognizes Gene as Saul from the lawyer's string of catchy commercials. This perfect stranger then forces Saul to perform his catchphrase, before handing over a contact card for his taxi service and leaving. Clearly rattled, Saul considers another extraction, but resolves to deal with the problem on his own.
While Saul's dilemma is obvious, it's not immediately clear that Jeff has actually been following him for an entire season. Back in Better Call Saul's season 4 premiere, "Smoke," Saul leaves the hospital and gets into a cab, where he notices the driver eyeing him suspiciously and makes a swift exit, clocking the Albuquerque Isotopes air freshener and fearing he could be recognized. This is the same character who approaches in the shopping mall, played by the actor Don Harvey. Since the cab scenes only ever show brief glimpses of the driver's eyes (and season 4 aired way back in 2018), the audience won't necessarily make the connection between the two figures.
The big question is whether or not Saul realizes the mall stalker is the taxi driver from the hospital. Like the viewer, Saul didn't get a good look at the driver originally, and Jeff doesn't introduce himself as "the guy who gave you a ride," instead just saying he spotted Gene from afar. Additionally, Saul never questions whether he and Jeff have met previously, and his panicked decision to call Ed Galbraith could've simply been a reaction to being recognized as Saul, rather than because he realized Jeff was stalking him persistently. Lastly, if Saul did realize Jeff had been tailing him for a while, he surely wouldn't have revealed his identity, even under pressure.
The other big mystery here revolves around Jeff and his true intentions towards Saul. The character presents himself as Saul's number one fan, just a cab driver from Albuquerque who happens to recognize a local celebrity in a different state and gets a little bit pushy. But so much about Jeff doesn't add up. He acts strangely during the cab ride in season 4, letting Saul out of his cab with extreme reluctance, and although this could just be a simple-minded man trying to figure out where he recognizes a passenger from, the intent feels far more sinister. Interestingly, Saul asked the driver to take him to the mall, rather than his house, so Jeff would've known where he could likely find Saul during working hours.
All the disparate oddness surrounding Jeff would make sense if he were really an undercover cop. Saul's admission into hospital could've triggered an alert with the authorities, and an officer disguised as a cab driver might've then been sent to pick their suspect up. It's likely that "Jeff" needs to verify Gene's true identity before making a move, so he needed to visit his target again after season 4's hasty cab exit. This would explain why Jeff is so keen to hear Gene admit he's the "better call Saul guy" in the mall, and why he has a burly friend standing guard behind him. Now that the Gene persona has been rumbled, it's only a matter of time before Jeff takes action and Saul has to run. As if Sammy Hagar takes cabs anyway, the guy can afford a limo.
Better Call Saul season 5 continues with "The Guy For This" March 3rd on Netflix.

Blizzard's Newest Diablo 4 Update Hasn't Stopped Skill & Talent Concerns
Blizzard’s new quarterly update for Diablo IV did little to alleviate fears of shallow skills and talent systems. This isn’t the first time Blizzard has upset its loyal fanbase, with the failed release of Warcraft III: Reforged still fresh in many player's minds.
Diablo IV was announced in November of last year, during Blizzcon 2019. With the announcement came a brutal, compelling Diablo IV cinematic trailer that revealed one of the main villains of the highly anticipated ARPG. Alongside the cinematic, fans saw gameplay and some lucky attendees of Blizzcon even got to visit the booths to try the new Diablo game out. The announcement came off the heels of a rocky past few years with Blizzard, particularly for Diablo fans, as Blizzcon 2018 was marred by an underwhelming Diablo mobile game, Diablo Immortal. This compounded on a consistently criticized World of Warcraft expansion and the critical failure of the Warcraft III remaster has fans extremely worried about Blizzard’s future.
Blizzard’s new official quarterly update outlines various improvements said to be made to Diablo IV, however, many fans, as evidenced by the community's response on Reddit, are not convinced. While the UI changes and inclusion of PC controller support are undoubtedly good, some of the biggest issues posed by fans weren’t even addressed, particularly in the simplified itemization which was shown in the demo and the apparently hollow shell of talent and skill customization. With titles like Path of Exile featuring incredibly complex and varied skill combinations and elaborate itemization, Diablo IV’s demo looked more like a rough draft to many. It features only three major stats (attack, defense, and life) and only a basic set of skills to choose from.
One Reddit user writes, “Don’t get your hopes up to high. Blizz is not the Blizz that made D2 anymore. POE completely dominates the field what D3 could have been. So i think Blizz will aim for a more ‘easy-going’ casual arpg with D4.” This brewing discontent with Blizzard’s recent direction can mostly be boiled down to longtime fans feeling betrayed or spurned by the mega-corporation as it drifts away from niche demographics and attempts to net in the largest possible user base. In the process, it might have lost a lot of its artistic direction and innovative game design. With that said, Diablo IV does feature a grittier art style more in line with the beloved Diablo II, which fans are happy about, and everything shown was a positive improvement over the demo, as the UI progress is clarified and has been changed based on previous criticisms.
However, the immediate refusal to acknowledge Diablo IV's biggest criticisms may be the first in a long line of dismissals from Blizzard. Many players can cite various new ARPGs which have more interesting systems at play. Path of Exile is currently the most popular one, with a free to play monetization model which never lapses into tediousness. The recently released Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem, while plagued with launch problems, is still receiving a relatively positive reaction for its beautiful graphics and iteration on Path of Exile’s systems. There are options for starved Diablo fans, and considering that Diablo IV may forgo the complexity many hardcore players love, these fans might need to look elsewhere.

As The Invisible Man gears up to hit theatres in late February 2020, its shared title with a popular Queen song has led some fans to speculate whether the pop-rock band has anything to do with the upcoming sci-fi horror release.
Produced by horror film veteran Blumhouse Productions, The Invisible Man uses its science fiction premise to explore the lasting psychological effects of an abusive relationship. Cecilia Kass (Elisabeth Moss) makes an escape from a controlling relationship with her scientist husband Adrian Griffin (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) that seems permanent when he is found to have committed suicide. She comes to realize she hasn’t quite made it out yet, her mind starting to unravel as she starts to wonder if he might not really be gone
Queen’s “The Invisible Man” first came out in 1989 on their The Miracle Album. There is certainly a precedent for Queen’s music to appear in film and TV. Queen’s iconic rock hits have often been favorites of onscreen soundtracks, making an appearance everywhere from stoner comedy Wayne’s World to horror parody Shaun Of The Dead. “The Invisible Man” is about a man who uses his invisibility to sneak around the shadows and cannot be “shaken”. Its thematic ties to the movie might leave fans wondering exactly how the two are connected.
For combination sci-fi horror and 70s rock fans, it may be disappointing to hear that the 1989 song isn’t even on the 2020 movie’s soundtrack. They may share a name, but The Invisible Man is completely independent of “The Invisible Man”. Although they also share common themes and motifs, the two pieces of media present completely different atmospheres. The movie is a dark, tense exploration of a woman’s psyche, leaning into the horror elements of classic movie monster the Invisible Man. The song is much more playful, with an energy that places it closer to video game than movie music. In fact, Queen’s music video for the song features a gamified version of the villain. Although the Queen song isn’t related to the 2020 film, it has served as inspiration for media in the past. According to Danny Phantom show writer Butch Hartman, “The Invisible Man” baseline fittingly inspired the Nickelodeon cartoon’s theme music.
Both the song and the movie are based on the same H.G. Wells novel: The Invisible Man. The Invisible Man 2020 is one of the many onscreen interpretations of the author’s story about a man who achieves invisibility. It is a reboot of the 1933 film The Invisible Man and was originally going to be a part of Universal’s attempt to establish a Dark Universe. In fact, Johnny Depp was part of the original cast considerations until The Mummy flopping led the studio to change tract from wider world building to individual storytelling. Meanwhile, Queen drummer Roger Taylor, who penned “The Invisible Man”, said in a 1989 interview on BBC Radio One that the idea for the song came from a book, almost certainly the Wells novel. While the song and the movie share a definite connection, the two do not overlap, at least not in 2020’s iteration of The Invisible Man.

Star Wars' High Republic Is Bad News For A KOTOR Movie
The High Republic era is the new focus of Star Wars storytelling, stemming from Project Luminous, but while exciting it's also bad news for anyone still hoping for a Knights of the Old Republic movie. With the Skywalker saga coming to a divisive end courtesy of J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, there's now a lot of talk about what the future of Star Wars will look like. On the movie side of things that's still rather uncertain, with no new Star Wars movie slated for release until December 2022, but Disney and Lucasfilm have ambitious plans when it comes to other mediums.
While the High Republic era is new, it had once been speculated that another part of the Star Wars timeline that a future movie might visit would be the Old Republic era, and more specifically an adaptation of - or at least a story inspired by - the hugely popular Knights of the Old Republic series. It was reported last year that an Old Republic movie was in the works from Avatar producer Laeta Kalogridis, and that was eventually followed by more recent rumors of a KOTOR movie & TV show being in the works.
In the light of the Star Wars: The High Republic announcements, however, it's probably safe to assume that a Knights of the Old Republic film isn't on the agenda for Disney and Lucasfilm, at least not in the more immediate movie future. Although The High Republic is currently focused on the publishing side of Star Wars, with a range of comics and novels planned, as opposed to movies, there's a great chance that if successful the project could be carried over to the big screen and Disney+. Whether that comes to pass or not, it's clear that The High Republic is the era Lucasfilm is focused on for Star Wars, which reduces the chances of them revisiting the Old Republic at the same time.
The two eras are different - the High Republic is just a couple of centuries before the Skywalker saga begins, whereas the Old Republic goes back thousands of years - but it's not hard to see some inspiration of the Old Republic within what the High Republic is doing. The stories, characters, and settings are new, but going to an older time and a landscape filled with Jedi Knights lends at least a surface level similarity, as does the name High Republic, and some of the designs carry an Old Republic influence. Many Star Wars fans may know the difference, but it'd likely be somewhat confusing to make a big push on two different but similarly-named eras of Star Wars so close together.
The Knights of the Old Republic is still a title that appeals to many longtime Star Wars fans, and it's one with great storytelling potential in some form, be it a movie, a Disney+ series, or more video games. And it may well happen too, later down the line. But looking ahead to Star Wars' future and the movies that are in development - one from Kevin Feige, and reportedly one from J.D. Dillard - it doesn't seem fitting with Disney's approach that they'd decide to make a KOTOR movie around the time they're making such a huge High Republic push.
