Duane "Dog" Chapman aka Dog the Bounty Hunter and star of Dog's Most Wanted is continuing on late-wife Beth Chapman’s holiday traditions. Even though this Christmas will be hard as the family is still mourning their loss, they are determined to make it the best they can.
Beth was first diagnosed with throat cancer back in 2017 and soon after had entered remission. Sadly, a year later she was told her cancer had returned and spread to her lungs. The reality star only went through one round of chemotherapy before announcing she would not seek further treatment. Beth died on June 26th due to complications from her throat cancer at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was only 51. Her husband Duane Chapman has had a rough couple of months with the passing of his beloved wife, as the two had been married since May of 2006. Her death came as a shock to the Chapman family as they had continued to film their reality show, Dogs Most Wanted, up until she ultimately passed away this past June.
During this holiday season, Chapman will aim to keep his late wife’s memory alive during the festive period. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight that aired on December 19th, the reality TV star spoke about his own, personal family traditions that he used to share with his wife Beth. Even though the close family lost their matriarch, Dog is committed to seeing that his wife’s spirit is continued to be remembered throughout their entire celebration. He said, "Beth was old style, old-fashioned. So, you know, that means the tree and the presents, all the stockings hung up … so I’m trying to keep that exact tradition" He revealed, "I’ve got it all decorated."
He explained that Beth loved Christmas music, saying, "Beth knew every single [Christmas song]." Dog said the festive music was always on, saying, "As we decorated the tree, she’d put on Christmas songs. Every night before we went to bed she’d put them on. I think the girls are taking it the hardest without being able to sing with mom." Even though Dog is planning on spending his Christmas in the mile-high state, he and his 12 children are still very spread out for the holidays. He revealed that half of his family will be spending time in Hawaii while the other half will be in Colorado. In a gift of his own doing, Dog has almost quit smoking (his promise to his Beth) and is currently using blood thinners for the blood clot that was in his lung; hoping exercise will help him become healthier.
While Beth’s voice will still be missed heard throughout the house, the couple’s daughter will happily hum her favorite tunes. The Dog's Most Wanted family will continue to stay strong as they keep their beloved family member’s memory in their hearts and their minds.
