Big Brother: Top Past HOH Winners Who Power Tripped With Inflated Egos

Memphis Garrett has been in power throughout the past week of Big Brother: All Stars. His reign as HoH marks his first, despite making it all the way to the final two on Big Brother 10. Like so many HoHs before him, Memphis has let the power go to his head. He demanded several houseguests play in the Safety Suite competition, despite it being a transparent attempt to lessen his competition next week. He also convinced himself he was pursuing justice for his good friend Dan Gheesling by targeting Ian, despite Ian and Dan maintaining a mutual respect. Memphis' time as HoH seems to have already marked a turning point on Big Brother's 22nd season, but it is far from the most egregious case of "HoHitis." Here are some of the most inflated egos the HoH room has ever seen.

Cody Calafiore may be in the Big Brother house at the moment, but his brother deserves mentioning here as one of the most absurd personalities the show has ever seen. He won HoH twice in his time on Big Brother 18, during weeks 2 and 4. Both of his HoH reigns highlighted his ego, but also resulted in him making some unsavory comments towards the women in the house. Like so many other power-obsessed HoHs, Paulie eventually met his downfall in hilariously satisfying fashion.

Jeff is certainly one of the most popular players in BB history, debuting on BB11 and returning for BB13. But fans often forget just how big of an ego Jeff could have, and no moment made that clearer than his late-game run as HoH on BB13. Following Brendon's eviction, Jeff won HoH at final eight and consequently betrayed just about every ally he and his now-wife Jordan had made in the previous week. His overconfidence throughout the week ultimately led to the downfall of him and Jordan both.

"HoHitis" is most commonly seen in alpha-male types, but Ronnie gave fans a real treat during Big Brother 11 when his early-season reign as HoH went so poorly that the entire house united over their hate for him. Ronnie's fellow houseguests all realized that he was playing each of them off one another, and agreed to ignore him for the week as a result. Things got so bad that Ronnie had to lock himself in his HoH room by himself. He was evicted soon after. Noticing a trend?

Devin served as HoH during the second week of BB16, and that week remains one of the most glorious seasons in the show's history. Devin formed the "Bomb Squad" during week one in the house, but once he won HoH, he randomly decided that he no longer trusted certain members, and decided to nominate alliance member Zach Rance. He also decided to blow up his own alliance by inviting half the house into it, creating a giant alliance that was obviously too big to handle. Surprise, surprise...he was unanimously evicted the following week.

In case it wasn't already clear, most players who get inflicted with "HoHitis" tend to fizzle out soon after. However, last summer, eventual winner Jackson Michie went on several power trips throughout the summer and still managed to claim the $500,000 grand prize. Michie's overconfidence could have gotten him in trouble, but he wasn't taken seriously as a threat once his alliance turned on him. Interestingly, being in the minority position helped Michie get to the end, despite his often irritating ego.

With a group of early evictees, but also a winner, making up this list, Memphis can go in one of two directions moving forward on Big Brother: All Stars. Only time will tell which one that will be.
