The last handful of months have been rather interesting for the galaxy far, far away to say the least. While there was much hype and anticipation surrounding the December 2017 premiere of <em>Episode VIII</em>, the conversation surrounding Rian Johnson's film quickly turned toxic as viewers heatedly debated over its various pros and cons. Even today, people can't agree if its deconstructive stance <a href="https://ift.tt/2sqVjEp the franchise's rich legacy</a> or ruined what made <em>Star Wars</em> so special.</p><p>The <em>Last Jedi</em> divisiveness is what made <em>Solo</em> so perfectly placed on Lucasfilm's release slate at first glance. Trailer and TV spots for Howard's spinoff sold the film as a throwback heist adventure that primarily concerned itself with being a fun moviegoing experience. The <a href="https://screenrant.com/solo-star-wars-story-movie-reviews-preview/">general <em>Solo</em> consensus that's emerged</a> since the movie debut is that it's exactly that, making it a far cry from the challenging subversions of <em>Last Jedi</em>.
