The Fox Merger Could Cancel Doctor Doom Movie

It came as a surprise last year when it was reported <a href="https://ift.tt/2IvWQiw was looking to acquire 20th Century Fox</a>. Of course, many Marvel fans wondered what the potential merger would mean for <a href="https://ift.tt/2HmusxV ongoing X-Men film series</a>, since the rights to the mutants and Fantastic Four would revert back to Marvel Studios. While those involved in the X-Men series and Marvel Cinematic Universe have downplayed how the merger would affect their respective franchises, there's no doubt <em>something</em> will happen should the deal go through.</p><p>Still, Fox has continued to <a href="https://ift.tt/2J9KGQR and release X-Men movies</a> while the studio waits for the deal to be finalized. <em>X-Men: Dark Phoenix</em> and <em>New Mutants</em> are expected to release in 2019, plus Channing Tatum's long-delayed <em>Gambit</em> movie may start filming this summer. Further, while the studio isn't developing a <em>Fantastic Four</em> film, Fox is planning a <a href="https://ift.tt/2sH9AvV Doom</em> movie written by Noah Hawley</a>, the showrunner of X-Men TV series <em>Legion</em>.
