One Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has created some of the most beautiful bulletin board artwork featuring characters from Pokémon, Avatar, Disney, and more. It's not the first time that most of the franchises have shown up in Animal Crossing, with players previously recreating the pilot to Avatar: The Last Airbender and sneaking Pokémon into their island's tall grass.
The bulletin board doesn't serve much of a purpose outside of leaving other players messages when visiting their island. The board sometimes informs the player of upcoming villager birthdays, and, in previous Animal Crossing titles, certain quest lines were tied to mysterious notes left on the board. While the bulletin board was originally meant for leaving other player messages, it has been turned in to one player's canvas to showcase their artistic skills, just like every other part of New Horizons.
Reddit user TigerDoodle has made a series of posts to the Animal Crossing subreddit showcasing their very impressive artwork. The artwork features characters from different franchises including a variety of different Pokémon and famous Disney icons. TigerDoodle has created original scenes with these characters sometimes depicting crossovers between Animal Crossing and a different franchise. These include Koroks from The Legend of Zelda flying by villagers and Pikachu giving Timmy/Tommy a hug. The drawings are all made in four colors, which is all the bulletin board offers to in-game artists.
In addition to the limited color palette, players are restricted to using their fingers or a controller to draw on the bulletin board. One Reddit user asked TigerDoodle if they used a stylus to which they responded they used a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. TigerDoodle stated that each piece takes a lot of patience, but the Pro Controller's d-pad offered precision which allowed them to draw straight lines and smooth curves. The amount of detail in each portrait is amazing, but it is even more impressive knowing how they're made.
Anyone who has used attempted to draw using the bulletin board knows it takes a lot of skill to create a piece of art to be proud of let alone be good enough to post online. While some of these pieces may take a while to complete, the timestamps on the drawings show that TigerDoodle is sometimes able to push out two in one day. Hopefully, players will see these works of art and go running to their bulletin boards to create their own original masterpieces.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on Nintendo Switch.
