Boba Fett Showed Amazing Bounty Hunting Skills At A Young Age

Warning! Contains spoilers for Star Wars: Age of Republic - Jango Fett #1!

Boba Fett showed amazing bounty hunting skills at a young age. In the Marvel comic, Star Wars: Age of Republic - Jango Fett, Boba goes on a bounty hunt with his dad, Jango Fett, and he shows that his future will be bright in the business. After all, he did learn from the best.

Boba Fett has long been a Star Wars icon, even if it was originally a running joke at his expense. Now, Boba is getting the last laugh as he recently made a comeback in the Disney+ original series, The Mandalorian. This has led to a complete revival with the fan-favorite bounty hunter leading up his own future Disney+ series, The Book of Boba Fett. Previously, Boba was occasionally seen in some episodes of The Clone Wars following his father's death. Before he died, however, Jango made sure his son could begin standing on his own.

Star Wars: Age of Republic - Jango Fett #1 is written by Jody Houser with art by Luke Ross. This 2019 issue follows Jango and then Boba, showing events that connect to Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Jango is seen meeting with Count Dooku under the name of Tyranus. This meeting is what begins Jango's relationship with the planet Kamino and shows that Jango might have already wanted an heir. Aside from this brief exchange, the main focus of the issue is Boba and Jango bounty hunting together—with Jango having a particular lesson in mind.

Jango puts together a job with a new crew—one that Boba doesn't know yet. Worth noting here is that the crew immediately agrees to have a kid along with them for the job. After initial surprise, once Jango says it is his son and it is part of training, nobody questions him. Jango has the kind of reputation that demands respect, which gives his son a little bit of leverage. Boba isn't happy working with people he sees as nobodies, preferring to work with Aurra Sing, Cad Bane, or Zam Wesell. Jango's reasons for choosing this team become apparent when the job actually happens. Thinking they can take advantage and get a bigger cut, one crew member attacks Boba from behind and treats him as a hostage. Among the many lessons Boba learns here, one of the biggest is to not trust anyone who hasn't earned his respect and stay vigilant. The crew also learns something—this is the wrong kid to mess with.

Boba turns the tables on everyone. He shoots his captor, shoots the other hunters that were in on the plan to capture him, and mouths off to them all the while. It becomes apparent that this job is critical in teaching Boba about keeping tabs on everyone, getting out of a tight situation without help, and dealing out punishment when double crossed. It is also clear that this isn't his first job. Despite being so young, the son of Jango Fett doesn't hesitate to shoot down hunters that could kill him just as fast and he thinks through every move he makes quickly and efficiently. He only leaves one hunter who wasn't involved, mainly so his reputation will begin to spread. This will ensure not just that people respect him from a distance or that he will start building up a reputation to get better jobs, but that everyone will think twice before even considering double crossing him. Boba was trained by one of the best, but his ability to get out of a situation like this shows that he also has a natural aptitude for the profession—like father, like son. Boba Fett's dedication, skills, and natural ability are what made him one of the best bounty hunters in the Star Wars galaxy and one of the biggest threats any foe could face.
