The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa reveals the first poster for the upcoming Netflix TV show. Archie Comics found success early in 2017 with the premiere of Riverdale on The CW, which garnered critical praise an quickly amassed a dedicated fan following. Then, Archie Comics struck a deal with Warner Bros. Television for future adaptations, and it was later reported a Sabrina the Teenage Witch TV show was in development at The CW. The project has since moved to Netflix with a two-season order under the title The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, one of Archie Comics' supernatural properties.
The new TV series has continued moving forward, casting Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman and rounding out her supporting cast to include characters like Harvey Kinkle (Ross Lynch), aunts Hilda (Lucy Davis) and Zelda (Miranda Otto), cousin Ambrose (Chance Perdomo), and, of course, Sabrina's faithful feline friend Salem. The show is based on The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comic book series, which is set in the 1960s and tells a darker story pertaining to the titular teenaged witch. Now, the first poster for Netflix's TV show has been officially released, further teasing the series.

Aguirre-Sacasa shared the poster on Twitter, writing, "Here we go!" It's unclear what Aguirre-Sacasa means by this comment, since The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been filming for some time. But, since Netflix confirmed a 2018 release date for the Sabrina series, perhaps the showrunner is teasing the impending arrival of more information - such as an official release date or a full trailer. Netflix typically releases trailers that confirm premiere dates for their original series, so it may be a combination of both. For now, take a look at the poster below.

The comic book series on which the show is based was written by Aguirre-Sacasa, with art by Robert Hack, and debuted on the Archie Horror imprint in 2014. The poster for the upcoming Netflix series is reminiscent of Hack's minimalist design for the cover of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina #2 that released in April 2015. So far, everything officially and unofficially released for the new Sabrina TV show has teased it will embody the comic's horror and supernatural leanings. In fact, when Netflix confirmed The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was in development, it was described as being in the vein of classic horror films Rosemary's Baby and The Exorcist.
Still, while the poster looks cool, it doesn't offer a good shot of Shipka in costume as Sabrina, or what Salem will look like when he's brought to life. Sabrina and Harvey were revealed in set photos for Chilling Adventures, but aside from images released from behind the scenes, fans haven't gotten a good idea of what to expect from the show. However, with the release of this poster hinting toward more to come, hopefully a teaser or trailer of some kind will be revealed soon. In fact, perhaps the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina trailer will debut at San Diego Comic-Con in a few weeks - it is based on a comic, after all.
