Russo Brothers' Quantum & Woody TV Show In Development At TBS

Anthony and Joe Russo are working with TBS to develop a Quantum and Woody TV show. The Russo brothers have already of course had lots of experience working in the realm of comic adaptations, as they've so far helmed four MCU entries for Marvel Studios, including the recent Avengers: Infinity War and next year's Avengers 4.

Published by Valiant Comics, Quantum and Woody was co-created by writer Christopher Priest and illustrator Mark Bright. The comic was originally published in 1997, and was inspired by actors Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes in the 1992 comedy White Men Can’t JumpQuantum and Woody tells the story of adoptive brothers who are reconnected after years of estrangement by the strange circumstances of their father's death. While investigating dad's demise, the pair are accidentally imbued with powers.

As reported by Deadlinethe Russo Brothers are still in the early development stages of a potential show with TBS. When talk of a possible Quantum and Woody TV adaptation began in 2017, Joel McHale, who previously worked on Community with the Russos, was tied to the project. There's no current confirmation as to whether or not his casting is still being considered.

Parent company DMG Entertainment began to work with Valiant back in 2015 to develop its properties for feature film and TV show adaptations, as well as general multimedia licensing. While not a giant like Marvel or DC, Valiant has well over 2,000 characters in its stable as of this year, many of which are ripe for adaptation. One such project that is currently in the works is a theatrical take on Bloodshot, starring Vin Diesel. That film goes into production this month at Sony.

Valiant could well eventually become a huge player in the future of comic-to-screen adaptations. With the superhero craze that the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Extended Universe have created, Valiant may soon find that it's various properties are worth their hypothetical weight in gold. Teaming up with the Russo Brothers is a fantastic move to make toward achieving that goal as well, as the pair's MCU work has made them imminently respected by fans. That said Quantum & Woody is still in the early stages of development, and no timetable for its release has been provided. In other words, fans of the two characters may have a while yet to wait for their TV arrival.
