Spider-Man: Far From Home Casts Numan Acar - Possibly As Chameleon

Numan Acar has been added to the growing cast of the 2019 sequel, Spider-Man: Far From Home - and his character name may hint he's playing Marvel villain Chameleon. Tom Holland will again play the web-slinging student and superhero, with fellow cast members Zendaya and Jacob Batalon returning, among others. Recent additions also include JB Smoove in a leading role.

The sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming is already filming and is promising to be bigger and funnier than the first. Key characters will be returning for the sequel, including Michael Keaton. Keaton will reprise his role as Adrian Toomes/ Vulture, but that doesn't mean he will be the sole villain of the film. The sequel has already begun shooting, with confirmation on newly added cast members.

According to Deadline, Acar has been cast as Dimitri, a mysterious role that could possibly mean a new villain for the franchise. Acar will be joining fellow newcomer to the film JB Smoove and possibly Jake Gyllenhaal, who is in talks to play Mysterio. Acar's character's name does point to the very real possibility he could play Marvel villain Chameleon, whose real name is Dmitri. Chameleon is known in the comic series to be a super-spy and master of disguise. A very likely and worthy villain to Marvel hero Spider-Man, Dmitri can make a life-like mask of anyone he meets, making him a tricky, if nearly impossible, foe to defeat.

Acar is just one of the new faces that will be seen in the sequel come 2019. Acar has been gaining momentum in the industry, with credits to HomelandPoint Break, and 12 Strong. Not to mention, the actor is poised to have a great year in 2019. While fans of the popular Showtime series may recognize the actor, he will be introduced to the Marvel fan base come 2019. Acar is a Turkish-born German actor who has worked in both American and German cinema, among other countries. In 2015, Acar received, along with his fellow cast members, a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for Homeland.

Next year is poised to be a great year for Numan Acar. The actor has also been cast in the live-action adaptation of Disney's Aladdin, due out in May of 2019. That film will see Acar alongside the likes of Nasim Pedrad, Billy Magnussen, Naomi Scott, and Will Smith as Genie. Aladdin is currently in post-production, giving Acar some breathing room to begin filming his scenes for Spider-Man: Far From Home. Fans will likely receive solidified confirmation in the coming weeks, as the film continues into production, but Acar could very well be filling the shoes, or mask, of Marvel's Chameleon. Even if he isn't, Holland's Peter Parker will have plenty to contend with in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
