Peyton Reed's Ant-Man and the Wasp has two post-credits scenes, just like most Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, but the question is, when do they take place? There was much confusion regarding the Ant-Man sequel's timeline leading up to its release. It comes on the heels of Anthony and Joe Russo's blockbuster event film, Avengers: Infinity War - similar to how the first Ant-Man film released after Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age of Ultron - which significantly altered the fabric of the long-running shared universe.
In Infinity War, the Mad Titan Thanos (Josh Brolin) succeeded in obtaining all six Infinity Stones from across the galaxy, and he used those stones, as well as the Infinity Gauntlet, to wipe out half of all life in the universe. That also includes half of all plants and animals in the MCU, not to mention several superheroes. Audiences have been left wondering what will happen in next year's Avengers 4, but before that culminating film arrives, MCU fans have two more movies to see: Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel. However, both films are prequels to Infinity War; therefore, they aren't subject to Thanos' snap. But what about Ant-Man 2's post-credits scenes?

For those who haven't seen Ant-Man and the Wasp's post-credits scenes (click HERE for a full breakdown), the mid-credits scene essentially shows Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), and Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) disintegrating as a result of Thanos' snap. And the post-credits scene takes place shortly thereafter, with the giant ant from earlier in the film still playing Scott Lang's (Paul Rudd) toy drums.
It's clear that the Ant-Man and the Wasp's mid-credits sequence takes place towards the end (and shortly after) the Battle of Wakanda from Avengers: Infinity War. It happens right when Thanos obtains the Mind Stone from Vision and snaps his fingers using the Infinity Gauntlet. It also takes place at the same time as Infinity War's post-credits scene, in which Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) die. And the purpose of Ant-Man 2's after-credits scene was to briefly showcase the aftermath of the snap and the disintegration of Hank, Hope, and Janet, not to mention the disappearance of Scott, hence the absent TV signal, with the giant ant playing for comedic effect.
Ant-Man and the Wasp's mid-credits scene is certainly intriguing, but it's something that should've released in the movie's base cut due to its impact on the characters' future, not to mention its connections to Avengers 4. While it may not be worth waiting for Ant-Man 2's post-credits scene, the mid-credits scene is very much worth watching, but it's still unclear exactly when they take place in relation to the movie's ending, though it is clear when they happen relative to Infinity War.
