Young Justice: Outsiders SDCC Artwork Reveals Darkseid

Darkseid joins Young Justice: Outsiders in new art from San Diego Comic-Con 2018. Cartoon Network launched the teen-centric DC show back in 2010 but ended up cancelling it after just two seasons. The show went on to gain an even larger following through streaming services, which is why DC's digital service DC Universe will be the home for the revival. The upcoming season won't launch until 2019, but details on what is in store are starting to come out.

One of the first character's that was confirmed to return was Aqualad, but he's yet to be seen in any of the early marketing. Instead, a piece of promo art helped introduce the characters who will lead the next iteration of the show and team. Thanks to Young Justice's presence at SDCC, though, who they'll be facing is officially confirmed.

Some new art for Young Justice: Outsiders is going to be on display at San Diego Comic-Con 2018, and when it was revealed by co-creator Greg Weisman on Twitter, fans immediately noticed the villains who are shown. As highlighted in the tweet below, Darkseid is shown standing next to recurring Young Justice villain Vandal Savage - finally confirming that the seeds from the season 2 cliffhanger are going to be paid off.

Darkseid is one of the biggest DC villains which is what made his tease at the end of Young Justice's second season so exciting. He's frequently been used in other DC animated material but has yet to make it to the big screen. Now, fans of the show know that he will be making his true entrance, and will be teaming up with Savage. There plans aren't completely known just yet, but together they present quite the challenge.

The official synopsis for Outsiders teased a story focusing on "meta-human trafficking and the terrifying threat it creates for a society caught in the crossfire of a genetic arms race spanning the globe and the galaxy." With Darkseid and Vandal Savage working together, it will be interesting to see how they factor into this story. This likely won't be the only piece of Young Justice news to come this week as the show has its very own SDCC panel Friday morning. More plot details and maybe even a trailer could possibly be on the way, especially since they're showing art again. At the very least, they could clear up any confusion over last year's concept art and the lacking presence of many of those heroes so far.
