Babysitter 2 Sets (Most Of) Original Netflix Film's Cast To Return

Netflix Horror comedy sequel The Babysitter 2 has revealed its cast, and it’s exactly the same as it was the first time around. The Babysitter was released on Netflix in October 2017, and saw 12-year-old Cole battle his babysitter and her friends when he accidentally discovers them to be part of a satanic cult who sacrifice innocents to feed a magical tome with their blood.

The Babysitter movie sequel picks up two years after the first movie ended and now sees Cole battling a different and far more enduring adversary: high school. As he tries to move past the trauma of his previous experience of being marked for sacrifice by posturing devil worshippers and instead survive the everyday evils of teenage drama, the group of older teens who tried to kill him first time around return for revenge, meaning Cole will once again have to fight to survive and outsmart those hunting him.

Coming from Coming Soon, the casting news confirmed the return of Judah Lewis (The Christmas Chronicles) as Cole, as well as the first movie’s assortment of teen movie caricatures that consist of Bella Thorne (Amityville: The AwakeningThe DUFF) as cheerleader Allison, Robbie Amell (The DUFF; The Flash) as jock Max, Hana Mae Lee (Pitch Perfect) as goth Sonya, and Andrew Bachelor (To All the Boys I've Loved Before) as black guy John. Also returning are Leslie Bibb (Iron ManThe Midnight Meat Train) and Ken Marino (Veronica MarsBrooklyn Nine-Nine) as Cole’s parents, and Emily Alyn Lind (ReplicasHidden) as Melanie, the girl next door with a crush on Cole.

The only original cast member whose presence in the film is yet to have their return confirmed is the beautiful and deadly babysitter herself Samara Weaving (Ready or Not), who is currently filming Bill & Ted Face the Music as Thea Preston, the daughter of Alex Winter’s Bill.

An immediate and obvious question the news requires addressed is exactly how Cole’s adversaries will return, since by the end of the first film every one of them was decidedly dead. The most likely solution is that since they were part of a satanic cult, and the powers granted to them have given them some mastery over death. Another possibility is that they were resurrected by Bee, who in a mid-credits scene was seen to have survived her apparent death. Horror movie villains returning from the dead with little in the way of explanation or justification is a staple of the genre, and since it’s a given that The Babysitter 2 will exaggerate familiar tropes as much as its predecessor, the bloodthirsty quartet’s return will likely play into such an expectation, as well as the film’s sense of ridiculous fun.
