Justice League Movie Image Reveals Zack Snyder’s Darkseid

Attention for the "Snyder Cut" of Justice League continues to grow exponentially, with Zack Snyder releasing a new image of Darkseid from his version of the superhero ensemble. After Snyder's departure from the movie due to a family tragedy, the extensive reshoots implemented on Justice League diverged the film massively from what he had intended. In recent weeks, the grassroots campaign for the release of Snyder's original cut of the movie has seen a veritable explosion in public attention.

Following interviews with Jesse Eisenberg, Junkie XL, and Jason Momoa that each shed light on various elements of the Snyder Cut, the topic has risen to astronomical levels of media coverage and support for its release. Numerous cast members would begin following Snyder's lead of releasing never-before-seen images from his cut of Justice League, with Momoa even revealing a still from the League's climactic battle with Steppenwolf. With the two-year anniversary of Justice League having arrived on Sunday, chatter about Snyder's cut of the movie would see another powder keg when Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck each took to social media to officially voice their support for its release.

Snyder's latest image raises more questions on how different his cut was from the theatrical version. Captioned with the words "That time in January 2017 when Diana came face to face with Uxas for the first time", the image shows Gal Gadot in an ADR session with an image of Uxas, who eventually becomes known as Darkseid, on the screen in front of her. Although the presence of Darkseid (played by Ray Porter) in the Snyder Cut has been an established fact for some time, and his role in the movie was a fairly significant one, Snyder's words may offer even greater insight into the film.

The timestamp visible in the upper left-hand corner of the screen would seemingly indicate that the scene takes place at about an hour and ten minutes into the movie (timestamps typically begin at the one-hour mark.) Additionally, though Snyder has previously posted images of Darkseid to social media, this is perhaps the best look he's offered of the DC supervillain yet. Furthermore, Gadot's presence in the image and Snyder's caption offer clues about what the scene itself may entail.

We know from a previous image released by Snyder that Darkseid was meant to appear in the history lesson, a role instead occupied by Steppenwolf in the theatrical version. With the history lesson being repurposed, Diana provides a narration of Steppenwolf's first failed conquest of Earth to Bruce Wayne in the theatrical cut. Snyder's new image would seem to indicate that while the history lesson played out differently in the two versions, Diana likely also provided it with a narration in his cut of the movie.

With the ongoing surge in attention for the Snyder Cut, it is now becoming a virtual daily occurrence for either Zack Snyder to drop a new image from the film on social media, or for another member of the cast or crew to publicly champion the release of his cut of the film. As of right now, no plans for a release of Snyder's version of the movie have been announced by Warner Bros. However, with this much rapidly increasing interest for the Justice League Snyder Cut to be released, it seems highly unlikely that the studio can remain silent on the matter for much longer.
