The Clone Wars: Ahsoka Lives (In Season 7 Twitter Emojis)

New Twitter emojis celebrate the return of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Disney+. The animated TV show premiered in 2008 as an extension of the movie of the same name. The show is set between the films Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, both of which are part of the prequel trilogy. The series is a favorite of many fans and features several classic Star Wars characters like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, and Anakin Skywalker.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars has a history of surprising returns after fans thought it was finished. The first five seasons of the series aired on Cartoon Network, thanks to an agreement with Lucasfilm. However, Disney purchased the company, leading to the potential end of the show in 2013. The next year, another network aired extra content from the series, turning it into a season 6. With the creation of new streaming service Disney+ came the announcement of a surprise season 7, which premiered today and consists of 12 episodes. Like a traditional TV show, The Clone Wars will air one episode a week until the May 8th finale.

Star Wars fan account The Star Wars Underworld discovered the emojis for Star Wars: The Clone Wars released for the premiere. In the past few years, Twitter has started adding emojis attached to popular hashtags, often for TV shows, movies, and in this case, specific characters. Check out the emojis featuring Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker, and more below:

The inclusion of the character Ahsoka isn't too surprising due to the time period The Clone Wars takes place. In the present-day, her fate is a little more questionable. Many feared her dead after a key scene during Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. In the movie, which was released this past December, her voice can be heard during Rey's battle with Palpatine. The other Jedi voices belong to characters who have already passed, leaving many fans to assume that Ahsoka was one of them. However, The Clone Wars director Dave Filoni has hinted twice now that this may not be the case. Filoni recently said, "there's no absoluteness that these people are dead," making some think there may still be hope for Ahsoka in the preset-day.

The return of Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a big deal for fans, and it's nice to see Twitter getting in on the fun. The show is another nearly guaranteed hit for Disney+ after the success of The Mandalorian. The streamer is also hard at work on two more live-action Star Wars shows featuring Obi-Wan Kenobi and Cassian Andor. However, fans will have to wait for their premieres to find out if they get the same emoji treatment as Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
