The Walking Dead: These Pieces Carl and Judith Fan Art Will Give You All The Feels

Fans of The Walking Dead comic series know that little Judith never made it out of her baby years, having been killed during an attack by the Governor which also saw the death of her mother Lori. As such, Carl and Rick Grimes were forced to move on with their lives with only the faintest of memories about young Judith.  The TV series chose an alternate route and made Judith a series regular.

Unfortunately, it would be Carl who would die while Judith was still very young, but the brief time they had together was special, indeed. Unsurprisingly, the fan art community has paid tribute to these two loving siblings with some amazing works.

10 Siblings Forever

MDGArt did a great TV-inspired shot of Carl and Judith sitting on a chair and enjoying a brief but welcome respite from the zombie apocalypse, and the human threats taking advantage of it. Here, the use of bright colors is striking, as is the detail level that gives the shot a slightly cell-shaded look.

The hand prints in the background are a touching nod to the two siblings who unfortunately never got to grow up and have a strong, long-lasting relationship with one another. Still, it captures the spirit of the moment.

9 Anime Carl & Judith

Terrorchean takes an anime-inspired approach with this shot that looks like it could have been torn straight from an animated television series. Carl is present with his eye patch, looking solemn yet protective over his little sister, while Judith stares at the viewer with a wide eyed innocence.

The use of simple colors and shading/coloring is done very nicely here, especially when it comes to rosy red detail in their cheeks. It's just a sketch, but the feeling is what's being projected forth, and it works very well.

8 Badass Carl & Judith

Jason Quinones takes a completely different approach from his contemporaries for this shot featuring Carl and Judith riding motorcycle and side-car, ready for battle. The two are much older and more experienced in this shot, which is something neither the comics nor the TV show managed to portray.

The sharp lines, simplistic use of just three colors, and the stylish background make this shot easy to digest and wicked to look at. It's one of the more aggressive fanarts out there, but definitely one of the coolest.

7 Traumatic Siblings

Isnabel painted this picture of a somber-looking Carl clutching his baby sister close as she sleeps away. It's unknown what events led up to this, but it appears Carl has taken quite a few knocks, perhaps to keep Judith safe from dangers.

The soft browns and creams are very easy on the eye, and the use of rusty orange for the blood spatters doesn't overwhelm the image the same way a bright red might have done.

6 Abstract Carl & Judith

Chibikko1000 gives this shot a bit of a water painted effect with simple lines, blank flesh tones, and clothes doused in spattering to create the illusion of texture. It's a clever idea, and makes the piece stand out among its peers.

Once again, this is more of an anime-inspired approach, but as a sketch it works well in conveying the message and the symbolism of Carl clutching Judith close in a loving brotherly embrace.

5 Carl, Judith, Lucille, & Daryl's Wings

Sverhnovyy takes a far different approach in this shot by portraying Carl and Judith unlike their TV or comic book counterparts. It's an odd but interesting mixture of elements that elicits a sense of protective darkness opposite innocence and gentleness.

Carl wields Negan's baseball bat Lucille, possibly to intimidate and ward off anyone who'd dare get too close to Judith.  Just how far he'd go is anyone's guess. Meanwhile, Judith sticks close to her brother, possibly because she knows what he's capable of.

4 Inked Out Carl & Judith

Kuramaruna focuses primarily on simple ink lines and shading with a light green background to frame what's going on. It's a cute shot featuring Judith dolled up and looking perfectly content, while Carl savors the moment with his baby sister.

The ink blotches in the shot are a tad distracting, and it's not known why the artist put them there, but that's a small quibble in comparison to the rest of the picture.

3 Sketched Carl & Judith

Natali Pari did an amazing job with this shot of Carl and Judith that looks like it was drawn by referencing one of the frames of the TV show. The detail level in the dotting and crosshatching is amazing, and gives the piece a vintage feel that is hard to duplicate.

Natali's art page seems to be down at the moment, but this remains one of her best Walking Dead works, by far.

2 Carl & Judith - Cute Concept

It isn't known who did this amazing rendition of Carl and Judith, but it looks like concept art for a possible Walking Dead animated show, if such a thing were ever to exist. The sketched lines make the piece look rough, which was possibly the intention.

Judith looks especially cute with big, expressive eyes, while Carl tries to form a connection with his little sister. It's moments like these that would matter most in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse.

1 Dessert Time

Unfortunately, it is a mystery who did this great art piece of Carl and Judith, but it's one of the most adorable, lighthearted, and family friendly of the bunch. It seems Carl has gotten his mitts around a can of chocolate pudding, and it isn't long before Judith comes over for her share.

Though we don't see Carl's eventual decision, audiences can see the conflict going on within him as to whether he wants to share such a precious and rare commodity - or keep it entirely for himself!
