Stargirl is the next DC Universe show set to roll out in May and attached to the project are numerous DC characters. With every new show, DC fans get the opportunity to speculate and predict which characters will appear.
Furthermore, fans can speculate how Stargirl’s show fits into the rest of the Arrowverse that DC has built and seemingly make the proper connection to all of its properties.
10 Should: Wildcat
Wildcat is a cornerstone Justice Society member and having him on the show would allow DC to give him more exposure. Fans got a brief glimpse into an iteration of the character back on Arrow but even that was not the true Wildcat. From the looks of it, fans will be getting the female version of this character but that should not stop Ted Grant from getting a few cameos.
A tired and seasoned Ted Grant who is moving into retirement and mentoring his successor would make for an interesting sub-plot.
9 Should Not: Hawkman
Fans got their first glimpse of Arrowverse Hawkman back on Legends of Tomorrow and it may be safe to say it was not one that should be remembered. His storyline coupled with the overall effects of his abilities were subpar and may be better off on the big screen.
Luckily, there are rumors that the Black Adam script does contain Hawkman’s presence and his big-screen debut should be arriving along with the film. This should be the next time Hawkman appears and it is due to the failed first attempt on television.
8 Should: Power Girl
The great thing about having a multiverse is that fans are given different versions of their already beloved characters. Supergirl has become that for Arrowverse fans, but Power Girl can add a different layer to the character of Kara Zor-L. Not only does her costume not sport that iconic S, but writers can also ensure Power Girl’s character is different in many ways compared to Supergirl. She can have the attitude and edginess that Supergirl lacks for the most part, while still staying true to the righteous nature of Kara.
Also, Power Girl has not had her chance on-screen and writers have an opportunity to make her very different from the Kara fans already have come accustomed to.
7 Should Not: Another Jay Garrick
Just like how the multiverse can provide opportunities to deliver different versions of characters, it can also provide opportunities to deliver too many versions of the same character. The Arrowverse has given fans plenty of speedsters to latch on to and root for. And when it comes to Jay Garrick himself, there have already been two versions of the character and even though one was Zoom masquerading as the hero, he still gave some pleasing optics to the overall imagery of the hero.
Unless it is the Jay Garrick from the Flash, then his cameo should not happen because fans do not need a third version of this character.
6 Should: Flash
Now that Arrow has concluded, Flash appears to be next to take up the mantle that Arrow has left behind in this ever-expanding universe. With that being said, it would only be proper for Flash to appear on Stargirl’s new show. It would also allow Jay Garrick (played by John Wesley Shipp) to make his cameos on the show in addition to exposing Barry to his world and times.
By giving the Flash his cameo, it would open the door to Stargirl and the Justice Society of America to involve themselves (when needed) to lend assistance if Flash would ever need one.
5 Should Not: Green Lantern
With HBO Max on the horizon, fans have been given plenty of announced content to look forward to and one of the projects is Green Lantern. In addition to this announcement, fans were also presented with the idea of John Diggle as Green Lantern during the series finale of Arrow. With Diggle set to appear in the new Superman & Lois show, fans will be receiving plenty of Green Lantern content. Green Lantern specifically may need to rely on big budgets, one of which might not be available to CW.
To avoid diminishing this hero even more than it already is (due to previous cinematic attempts), this universe should be wary of giving fans a low budget Green Lantern, let alone multiple with Diggle now having a ring.
4 Should: Hawkgirl
Along with Hawkman, she too has seen some on-screen action in Legends of Tomorrow. Unfortunately, the product was less than impressive. With Hawkman rumored to appear in Black Adam, it is not out of the realm of possibilities for her to appear as well. But in case she does not, Stargirl would be a nice landing spot of the Thangarian warrior.
This would provide another opportunity for writers to give her a solid storyline without having to rely on some of the more whacky adventures that the Legends often go on.
3 Should Not: Doctor Fate
Along with Hawkman, Doctor Fate has also been rumored to make an appearance in the upcoming Black Adam film. Leaving Doctor Fate to only appear in the film can be for the best. The film can provide the budget to properly present the character in his proper form as opposed to a watered-down version that a tv budget would present.
Even though Stargirl appears to be deploying her version of the Justice Society, the possibility of the Black Adam film doing the same will more than likely provide a level of magnitude that will fit Doctor Fate’s importance.
2 Should: Superman (Brandon Routh)
Thanks to Crisis on Infinite Earth’s fans were given a Kingdom Come Superman played by Brandon Routh who also became a fan favorite. His return to the tights and cape had fans wanting more, and rightfully so. Given the Justice Society’s appearance in Stargirl, it opens the door for Routh to return as Superman and have significance as well as plenty of on-screen time available to him.
Superman plays a big part in the Justice Society so having Routh return would be an obvious choice and would avoid creating yet another live-action Superman.
1 Should Not: Red Tornado
Red Tornado’s first appearance came during Supergirl season one and it did not meet a warm welcome from fans. Instantly, the android was compared to Marvel’s Vision as far as appearance. Additionally, the optics of Red Tornado were not impressive, let alone it’s importance to the overall season appeared to match that of a “villain of the week.”
It does not appear that Stargirl would find the character useful enough to spend the budget on Red Tornado or give it more significance in a storyline.
