Star Wars: 10 Fights We Never Got To See | ScreenRant

The Star Wars saga as we know it ended back in December with the release of The Rise of Skywalker. That movie brought the franchise to an end but, typical to form, it's been the source of much debate online. Not everybody left the theatre feeling satisfied with what they've got which, given how the other blockbusters within the series have been received, was to be expected.

Some felt they didn't get the epic scenes they wanted, so we now take a look at 10 fights we never got to see - that fans would have loved to witness on the big screen.

10 Qui-Gon Jinn vs Count Dooku

Count Dooku, before he became a Sith Lord, was a well-respected Jedi Knight. And, during his time in the religion, he trained Qui-Gon Jinn - the man who would later mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi and discover young Anakin Skywalker on Tatooine.

This is revealed in 2002's Attack of the Clones but, by this point, Qui-Gon is sadly already dead - having been murdered by Darth Maul in 1999's The Phantom Menace. It would have been fascinating to see Liam Neeson's character fight against his old master but, unfortunately, this wasn't the case. Instead, it's Kenobi and Skywalker who battle Dooku on numerous occasions before his death in Revenge of the Sith.

9 Anakin vs General Grievous

Revenge of the Sith sees the character of General Grievous debut for the first time. Despite not being force-sensitive, he's a formidable wielder of a lightsaber, pocketing the weapons of numerous victims he's slaughtered over the years. And while he and Anakin Skywalker meet on-board the Invisible Hand, we never get to see them go fully head to head.

This would have been an exciting scene to see, particularly given how both characters are strong in combat. Yet it's Obi-Wan Kenobi who takes down Grievous in the end, killing the cyborg on Utapau.

8 Anakin vs Mace Windu

Sure, Anakin Skywalker cuts off Mace Windu's hand in Revenge of the Sith. But this isn't really a fight between the two men, with the Jedi Knight focused on his fight with Chancellor Palpatine at the time.

Given how much Anakin and Windu clashed over the years, an epic battle between the two would have gone down a storm with fans of the franchise. We get to do this in the official video game of the movie, where there's an entire level consisting of a big lightsaber duel. Instead, we have to settle for Windu losing a limb before being murdered by Palpatine, who cackles gleefully as he commits the evil deed.

7 Darth Vader vs Jar Jar Binks

Okay, we admit that a fight between Darth Vader and Jar Jar Binks would have been extremely one-sided. But that's not to say we're happy we never got to see it.

After shedding his identity as Anakin Skywalker, Vader goes on a mass killing spree - wiping out all the Jedi and anybody who opposes Palpatine's rule. Jar Jar could easily have been one of the characters in the firing line but he manages to survive, with George Lucas flatly refusing to kill off a character who split the fandom in two.

6 Darth Vader vs Yoda

The end of Revenge of the Sith is all-out war, with Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi going head to head on Mustafar while Emperor Palpatine and Yoda battle it out on Naboo. While both fights and amazing, however, we don't get to see either take place.

Kenobi and Palpatine would have been epic - but Vader vs Yoda would have been something else. The biggest bad guy against the strongest Jedi? Even now, that's worth the entry fee. Unfortunately, though, it was another fight that we never got to see play out.

5 Kylo Ren vs Chewbacca

When Kylo Ren kills Han Solo, he receives a blaster bolt to the stomach from Chewbacca immediately afterward. Kylo and the Wookiee have known each other for years and many were expecting them to come face to face in one of the other two movies that would follow The Force Awakens.

his is the closest they come to interacting. There's no fight, there's no emotional confrontation about Han's death and this was a big opportunity that passed the sequel trilogy by.

4 Kylo Ren vs Hux

In the first two movies of the sequel trilogy, we learn of the difficult dynamics within Kylo Ren and General Hux's relationship. Both men clearly despise each other, despite their common goal of wanting the First Order to reign supreme across the galaxy.

It was expected Kylo and Hux would eventually clash in The Rise of Skywalker, bringing two movies to a head in the process. But this doesn't happen, with Hux instead murdered by General Allegiant Pryde after being outed as a spy.

3 Luke vs Kylo Ren

Luke Skywalker is the hero of the original trilogy. Kylo Ren, the villain of the sequel trilogy. Luke mentored his nephew and we get to see an (extremely brief) flashback of the duo locking horns, while they also have a war of words on Crait where Luke isn't really there, instead projecting himself across the galaxy.

This means that we never actually got to see an epic lightsaber fight between the two characters. It would have been mouthwatering for fans to see but, instead, we had to contend with a fake fight where Luke's on one planet - and Kylo another. We could have maybe given this false dawn if Mark Hamill's character hadn't died immediately afterward.

2 Luke vs Snoke/Palpatine

Fans were eager to see Luke battle against Supreme Leader Snoke in The Last Jedi but those hopes are dashed when both characters die within the same movie. When it was announced Palpatine would be back for The Rise of Skywalker, though, some dared to dream of Luke and his old enemy coming face to face.

Unfortunately, Luke barely features within the final movie of the saga while Palpatine is instead pitted up against Rey and Kylo Ren. While that battle against the two newer characters is exciting, seeing the Sith Lord battle against the strongest Jedi of the lot would have been even better.

1 Leia vs Palpatine

We never got to see Leia confront Palpatine during the original trilogy. But, given they're both protagonists in The Rise of Skywalker, we feel that should have been amended during that blockbuster.

Obviously, things were made difficult due to the tragic passing of Carrie Fisher. Yet seeing Leia, whose father and own son were seduced to the dark side by the Sith Lord, squaring up to Palpatine would have helped bring the saga full circle. We didn't get this, though, and Fisher's sad death made this impossible for Disney to do.
