Wonder Woman 3: 5 Characters Movie Could Introduce (& 5 They Should Stay Away From)

For most of 2020, audiences were waiting for numerous films to come out, chief among them being the sequel to the 2017 hit DCEU film, Wonder Woman 1984. While the film's been met with some mixed reviews and some hilarious memes, there were enough positives to greenlight a third film.

With 1984 out of the way, despite some unanswered questions, minds are already turning to what the third movie could be about and more importantly, who besides Diana could pop up. Even though Wonder Woman has some pretty strange villains, allies, and in-betweeners, there's more than enough room for some characters to appear while some others should maybe remain in the dark.

10 Could Introduce: Giganta

Besides the main character and side characters for sure, the characters audiences usually search for are the villains. Every movie needs a baddie to spur the hero in some way and after Maxwell Lord, Cheetah, and Ares taking the spotlight, it's time for another.

Giganta has had some interesting, comic-book origins and restructures over the years but what's stuck out is her character. Anyone with the power to grow to immense heights is more of a challenge for Wonder Woman and could take the plot in a more grounded direction.

9 Stay Away From: Doctor Psycho

Of course, alongside Giganta, there are other WW villains who could pop up, a few who will be brought up on this list. However, one who shouldn't appear is the nefarious telepath Doctor Psycho and it's for more than one reason.

Alongside their immense hatred for women which could either benefit or hurt the plot, the truth is Psychos had his time in the spotlight. Voiced brilliantly by Tony Hale in Harley Quinn, a fantastic show all on its own, audiences have already seen a great version of Psycho, one the movie could weaken in some way.

8 Could Introduce: Hephaestus

Now, as most WW fans know, when the first movie began, there was a whole picture book backstory scene on how the Gods were killed by Ares. However, these are literal Gods. What's to say that one or two of them would've survived the massacre?

That's where Hephaestus could come into play, the god of fire and a weapons maker. Hephaestus could be a survivor of the massacre who's hidden away for years and either emerges in a villainous manner with an unspeakable weapon or as an ally to Diana.

7 Stay Away From: Zeus

While it's plausible that some gods could've survived Ares's assault, the king of them, Zeus, shouldn't be one of them. There's a lot of different reasons for this but chief among them is his past.

Not just in the sense that Zeus had difficulty keeping it in his pants in Greek mythology but also because of his sacrifice. Zeus created Themasycria as a bid to save humanity. It was because of this that Diana came to be and bringing him back would ruin the nobility of it.

6 Could Introduce: Jason

There always seems to be a trope in movies, books, and comics where the protagonist ends up having a brother or sister they never knew about. For Diana, that trope is alive and well and comes in the form of her long lost brother, Jason.

What makes Jason interesting is that he's been apart of the human world for some time, after being sent away by his mother. This could either provide some tension or an almost heartfelt reunion between the pair and make them allies against whoever the villain is.

5 Stay Away From: First Born

Alongside the trope of long lost brothers and sisters lies the clichĂ© of the scorned son or daughter sent away from their family for murderous reasons. Point is, there's another long-lost relative who Diana knows, the son of Zeus and Hera known as First Born.

Truth is, FB's too brutal and intense to make it in the world of WW. After the last film that was full of some of the DCEU's cheesiest scenes, adding in the dark and brutal nature of the First Born would conjure up so many mixed messages tone-wise.

4 Could Introduce: Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandsmark)

Every hero needs an ally and Wonder Woman has had some awesome ones over the years who've held the mantel of Wonder Girl. Despite Donna Troy being the first to hold the mantel, seeing Cassie Sandsmark take on the role in the third film would be an inspired choice.

The main reason is just that Cassie hasn't been seen in live-action yet. Donna's been getting some time in the spotlight due to Titans but Cassie hasn't. Plus, her go lucky attitude and badassery would make her a fine addition. Cassie could maybe even take on some of the wieght from Diana and allow her to lead other teams like the Justice League Dark.

3 Stay Away From: Paula Von Gunther

The concept of villains turning over a new leaf is something that's been done over and over in the realm of superhero films. Not many people know of Paula Von Gunther, a villain who reformed and became Diana's ally but for the third movie, it may be best for her to remain unknown.

Over the years, Gunther has gone through the song and dance of reforming only to return to her villainous nature time again. To adapt her would be difficult to pull off and might not end up being the best. Also being a former Nazi wouldn't help things either.

2 Could Introduce: Orion

Given that Diana has for years worshiped the likes of the old gods, how would she react to some new ones? With the Olympians gone, perhaps it's time to introduce the New Gods of the DCEU, starting with the one known as Orion.

A warrior from New Genesis, Orion is seen as a God of War, something that could play into the final film. Perhaps the New Gods arrive on earth and with Orion being the "God of War", rubs Diana the wrong way and pushes them into conflict and maybe unearth some unknown powers Wonder Woman has.

1 Stay Away From: Grail

Despite the need for New Gods, there's one who should remain hidden: Darkseid, or rather, his daughter, Grail. Now, Grail isn't a big Wonder Woman villain, they've only fought a few times. Yet, the problem with Grail arises with her father.

Yes, Grail has a connection to the Amazon's through her mother which could be interesting to see but audiences haven't seen Darkseid yet. Heck, he's not even one of the important plot points in the DCEU. The ultimate evil of the DC hasn't shown up(something the Snyder cut may change) and adding in his daughter wouldn't be much of an impact.
