The Suicide Squad’s Jai Courtney is set to join Chris Pratt in Amazon’s upcoming television series adaption of The Terminal List. Courtney, who has recently returned to play Captain Boomerang in James Gunn’s Suicide Squad sequel, is no stranger to television roles, having begun his career in Australian television before making his international debut in Spartacus: Blood and Sand. More recently, he also appeared in Netflix’s drama series Stateless.
According to reports from Variety, Courtney is set to tackle the recurring guest role of Steve Horn, a ruthless billionaire who will run afoul of Pratt’s former Navy SEAL James Reece. Based on the novel of the same name, The Terminal List is executive produced by Pratt and the book’s original author Jack Carr. The series will follow Pratt’s character, who finds himself targeted by clandestine threats after returning home following a deadly ambush that wiped out his entire platoon.
This casting marks a return to Amazon for both Pratt and Courtney, who have both recently featured in two of the streamer’s original films. While Courtney co-starred opposite Kate Beckinsale in the action-comedy Jolt, Pratt has broken Amazon streaming records with the release of his sci-fi film The Tomorrow War. Courtney also has experience in popular action franchises outside of DC. Although the films themselves weren't well-received, Courtney starred in both a Terminator and Die Hard sequel. Combining Courtney's action chops with Pratt, who is even more popular due to playing Star-Lord in the MCU, Amazon has a good chance at making an entertaining new show. Filming on The Terminal List began earlier this year, and Amazon is currently eyeing a 2022 release.
