5 Reasons Quake Should Be in the MCU (& 5 Reasons She Shouldn't)

The seventh and final season of the long-running ABC and Marvel series Agents of Shield is set to finally air at some point this summer. For years, the show has told the endearing story of a group of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, led by Clark Gregg's Phil Coulson, and their wild adventures across the insane Marvel world.

One of the shows many standouts has been Chloe Bennet's portrayal of Daisy "Quake" Johnson. Since 2004, Quake has been of the most popular, street-level Marvel heroes who had her turn as the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. and even as an Avenger. With the series coming to an end, you have to wonder if it might be time to formally introduce the character of Quake into the MCU in a more legitimate way. For the purpose of that question, here are five reasons why Quake should join the MCU, and five why she should go down with the Agents of Shield ship.

10 Shouldn't: The Ship Has Sailed

Agents of Shield began almost seven full years ago. On several occasions, the show references events from the MCU while Coulson himself is the biggest connector of all. However, the MCU has never directly referenced anything from Agents of Shield. So, yes, Quake is technically part of the MCU but, at the same time, she really isn't at all.

At this point, going on seven years deep, it feels as though the ship that would bring Quake formally into the MCU via a film has sailed. If those behind-the-scenes of the MCU had any intention of bringing the character into the films, they likely would've done it by now.

9 Should: Connecting The MCU & Agents of Shield

On the other hand, the lack of connection between the MCU and Agents of Shield has been wildly frustrating for fans of the show. Now that the MCU is making a formal move to television via the Disney+ series, it feels like a better time than ever to finally establish some real connections to Agents of Shield.

Aside from Coulson, Quake is easily the best character to tie the show into the MCU. She's the most legitimate hero the show has ever produced, an incredible leader capable of running and reviving S.H.I.E.L.D., and a perfect candidate to join a team like the Avengers. With Coulson's MCU life likely at its end, Quake is, by far, the best option to finally establish some legitimate connections between Agents of Shield and the MCU.

8 Shouldn't: Time To Put The Character To Bed

It's worth considering that with the conclusion of Agents of Shield, it'll also be the conclusion of Daisy Johnson's on-screen life. She's been such an incredible character in the series and perhaps she's reached her shelf life.

There's no telling what will come from the final season of the show and where it'll take or leave off Quake. Hopefully, by the end of the final season, we'll know if she's meant to make an appearance in the actual MCU or if Marvel would finally put the character to bed.

7 Should: Comic Book Accuracy

With the way she's been portrayed in the show, Quake hasn't really mirrored what she is in the comics. If they were to introduce a real MCU version of Quake, hopefully with Chloe Bennet still portraying the character, they could fully maximize her potential and show her in a way that accurately mirrors her comic book life.

She could not only become S.H.I.E.L.D.'s director or a member of the Avengers, but she could help set up so much more within the MCU.

6 Shouldn't: A Tough Introduction

Obviously, the geniuses behind the MCU would work their magic in order to give Daisy Johnson a proper film introduction. However, it'd still be brutally difficult to all of sudden introduce a character of her magnitude into the MCU out of nowhere. It'd be especially hard if they plan to incorporate her in a major way within the films like as the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. or an Avenger.

Considering how long they've held off folding her into the MCU, it may be too difficult to do so at this point. If they truly intended on doing the character justice, they probably would've introduced her within a film a long time ago.

5 Should: Another Disney+ Series

As the MCU starts to make its emergence on Disney+ via shows like The Falcon and the Winter SoldierWandavision, and Loki, the door will be open for so many additional characters to earn series of their own. Already, characters like Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk are set to have their own Disney+ series later down the line. With that in mind, you have to consider that Quake would probably make for a great Disney+ series of her own to formally bring her into the MCU.

She would even make a great supporting character in a series on the streaming platform considering a majority of her story has already been told throughout Agents of Shield. Either way, a Disney+ series might be a much better avenue to introduce the character as opposed to a full MCU film.

4 Shouldn't: A Character Made For TV

Another thing to consider in regard to the character of Quake is if she would be better off left in the realm of television. Her portrayal has worked perfectly in Agents of Shield and it just might be a huge disservice to the character to try and merge her into the monstrous world of the MCU films.

A lot will ride on the way things play out in the final season of Agents of Shield and the way the character leaves off. Regardless, though, it may just be time to accept the fact that Quake was a character made for television and trying, now, to bring her into the MCU via a film or even a Disney+ series could just tarnish the legacy they've built for the character in the show.

3 Should: A Female-led MCU

Over the past several years, the MCU has established that its future will be prominently female. Characters like Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Shuri, and Wasp have been built to have more leading roles in future films and series.

In that case, along with the future introductions of Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk on Disney+, Daisy Johnson would be a perfect character to help grow this female-led MCU. Not only is she a very powerful female superhero, but she's an incredible leader that could guide the MCU teams of the future. As these female stars continue to emerge and prosper in the most prominent roles of comic book films, Quake falls right in line as a potential lead in her own series or film.

2 Shouldn't: Most Wouldn't Recognize Her

The biggest issue with introducing Daisy Johnson into the MCU at this point in time is that hardly anyone would recognize the character, especially if Chloe Bennet continues to portray her. Unless you've watched Agents of Shield or followed her in the comics, there's really no familiarity with the character of Quake.

Considering the majority of people that haven't done either of those things and consume the MCU in a more casual manner, there is a massive contingency that wouldn't know who the character is upon her introduction. That issue would make itself abundantly clear very quickly, especially considering that they'd likely build on her Agents of Shield role when, and if, they choose to include her in the formal MCU.

1 Should: Helps Set Up Secret Warriors

For a long time, fans have waited for a live-action look at Nick Fury's Secret Warriors. As the MCU has already established, and will likely build on the Skrull storyline, it may be the perfect time to finally give them their own MCU appearance.

The Secret Warriors, composed of Agents of Shield characters Quake and Yo-Yo, as well as Stonewall, Eden Fesi, The Druid, Phobos, and Hellfire would be the perfect subject for something like a Disney+ series. Considering Quake is the most established character out of any of them, an MCU appearance of her own would be the perfect place to start building up to the Secret Warriors.
