PUBG Paramo Location Lore Video Narrated By Star Trek's Jonathan Frakes

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has released a new lore video preparing for the addition of the new Paramo map in Season 9. The trailer highlights the game's mysterious, ever-evolving storyline, a recent addition to what started as a simple multiplayer experience. PUBG is known by most as the first battle royale game to achieve widespread success, paving the way for big names like FortniteApex Legends, and even Fall Guys.

But in addition to defining a multiplayer genre, PUBG has recently been developing a bizarre storyline to give lore context to each of its various maps. The newest map, Paramo, is receiving this context from a YouTube lore video narrated by none other than Star Trek actor Jonathan Frakes. The video is presented as a clip from an old 90's-style conspiracy documentary called Mysteries Unknown. This episode of the documentary concerns an archaeologist and occultist named Dr. Burton Northrop, who traveled to the Andes Mountains in search of the lost city of Paramo and the legendary Fountain of Youth. Frakes promises "a story of madness and obsession, corporate espionage, and one very, very large rock" as Northrop searches for the key to immortality. Unfortunately, the video only introduces the mystical tale, without providing many answers.

Jonathan Frakes and this intriguing documentary have appeared before. Back in May Frakes narrated a different episode of Mysteries Unknown concerning the game's Vikendi map. That story involved a failed amusement park and a wealthy family undone by a series of gruesome deaths. It, like the story of Burton Northrop, makes perfect fare for an eerie show like Mysteries Unknown. Supernatural conspiracies are a strange direction for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds to take with its lore, but thanks to the efforts of Jonathan Frakes, it's paying dividends.

From the press release: Thanks to truth-seekers combing through abandoned video archives, more footage of Mysteries Unknown has been uncovered. The previously discovered television program, narrated by esteemed actor Jonathan Frakes, sheds light on a new mystery focused on Dr. Burton Northrop and the city of Paramo. This latest footage, “The Fountain of Truth,” begins to uncover the studies of an archaeologist by the name of Dr. Burton Northrop, and his questionable expeditions to discover ancient artifacts of unknown origin. His travels eventually lead him to the Andes mountains, in search of a city called Paramo.
