This week on The Masked Singer fans got finally hear group C perform. The long-awaited acts included Squiggly Monster. While the judges may not know who he is yet, we think we do.
Group C may have lacked a little of the power we heard in groups A or B, but what they were not short on was fun. Squiggly Monster came out with a solid song choice in classic rock hit "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" by Creedence Clearwater Revival. The performance was entertaining, and he definitely gave both viewers and judges comedian vibes. The judges' guesses included both Ray Romano and Brad Garrett from Everybody Loves Raymond. However, they also included a few more outlandish guesses like former comedian and U.S. Senator Al Franken or even NIAID Director Dr. Anthony Fauci. Fans, however, had some more realistic theories.
Several publications guessed early on that Squiggly Monster was Full House star Jodie Sweetin. But it became clear the moment he walked out that he was, in fact, a large person with a deep voice who towered over host Nick Cannon, and not the 5'6" actress. We do agree on one thing though: Squiggly was a member of the Full House cast. Squiggly Monster fit much better with comedian and actor Bob Saget, who happens to be 6'4". The first visual clue in the package was a penguin. Saget directed the parody nature documentary Farce of the Penguins. He mentioned being the voice of the people and there aren't many who haven't heard him as the voice of an older Ted Mosby on How I Met Your Mother.
Squiggly Monster mentioned being a patchwork of personas, a father figure, and a scoundrel. Saget is famous for playing a father in his role as Danny Tanner. However, his stand-up comedy is very raunchy and falls more into scoundrel territory. Speaking of Full House, many of the clues seemed to pay homage to his TV family. There was a DJ for Candace Cameron's character DJ Tanner. There were plenty of cookies that could be a nod to Michelle, who was the junk food queen with cookies as a particular favorite. There were lots of yarn and knitting clues, and his co-star John Stamos has a recent Geico commercial where he knits a scarf. He even tweeted about knitting in his spare time. The clue package also included a stethoscope, which fits with the stand-up comic who almost became a doctor.
But some of the biggest clues to Squiggly Monster's identity didn't come from the clue package at all. While he was talking, his mannerisms were similar to those of Saget when he's on stage. The voice is always the ultimate clue and, in this case, the voice definitely sounds like Saget. Fans of Full House recognized his voice almost immediately. Like Squiggly Monster, Saget enjoys singing but isn't about to switch careers anytime soon. It does seem highly unlikely in the face of so much talent this season that Squiggly will be around too long, but if it is the 64-year-old actor under the mask, we can expect some possible Philly clues to link to his birthplace, or some America's Funniest Home Videos clues like we got for its other former host, Tom Bergeron, when he was Taco. Time will tell, but it appears at this point Squiggly Monster is actor Bob Saget.
The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8 pm ET on Fox.
