Among Us Update Will Change Meeting Screen, Add 6 New Crewmate Colors

Developer Innersloth has new colors for crewmates and a tweaked meeting screen coming in the next update for Among Us. Innersloth recently launched the Airship update, which added the Airship map, changes to the chat function in-game and more. However, the developer listed upcoming plans for the next big update in a tweet shortly after its release. It also released official plushies of the crewmates from the game in the 12 original colors that could be chosen.

The Airship has proven to be a challenge to both crewmates and Impostors alike, thanks to the size and options present in the new map. Popular streamer Pokimane recently said that the map is way too big to properly check other crewmates for Impostor clues. The addition of more crewmembers joining the Airship may fix or exacerbate that issue, since more crewmates mean more chances for the Imposter to hide or to slip up.

In a blog post on Innersloth’s itch.io page, the new update has been detailed. It will tweak the meeting screen and add six new colors for crewmates. Innersloth says the colors will be revealed in May but assures fans that it wants to make sure colorblind players can still properly distinguish crewmate colors. It’s currently working on a solution to move away from color identification in the future. Also coming in the update is a new meeting screen.  This change is to accommodate the increase in lobby sizes from 10 to 15 players. The new screen will also have a new intro for meetings, to emphasize who calls the meetings and who died between the rounds.

Additionally, Among Us will have a new art style. Innersloth says the style won’t drastically differ from the original style but will look cleaner and make animating easier on the backend. The post also says Innersloth is adding a general page for updates and bug fixes, along with updates to its website and bug reporting system.

Although Innersloth is still an indie studio, credit has to go to the developers for coming up with solutions to increase output while also streamlining the work. If the content from the Airship update is anything to go by, the developer has a lot more plans for Among Us. What those plans are, however, Innersloth won't reveal until they're ready.
