Daniel Craig’s Favorite Car He Drove As Bond Is A Franchise Classic

No Time To Die’s Daniel Craig reveals his favorite car he drove as James Bond and, for long-time fans of the franchise, it shouldn’t come as a surprise. Craig has starred as the MI6 agent since 2006's Casino Royaleand his tenure as 007 has been praised as one of the greatest in the franchise's history. After four films and 15 years, Craig’s fifth and final outing releases stateside on October 8.

Following the campier Pierce Brosnan-led Die Another Day (2002), Craig inherited the role of Bond just as the Bourne franchise was redefining the spy genre. While the initial casting of a “blonde Bond” was met with skepticism, the debut of Casino Royale silenced any naysayers. Craig’s grittier take on the gentleman spy truly brought the character into the 21st century without sacrificing iconic aspects of his respective franchise; including Bond’s booze, women, and vehicles. In almost every film, 007 has gotten himself into at least one very scenic and technologically impressive car chase.

Craig recently sat down with GQ to answer the Internet's questions regarding the James Bond 007 franchise. One of those questions concerned his favorite car to shoot in, and his response was probably what many would expect. The actor picked one of the most iconic Bond cars, the Aston Martin DB5, praising its "beautiful" design. Read what he had to say below:

“The [63-65 Aston Martin DB5]. It’s like one of the most beautiful cars ever made ... I mean I’ve driven the DBS and the brand cars, and they don’t break down quite as often, but the DB5 is definitely the car.”

The more modern Ashton Martin DBS appeared in Craig’s Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, meeting an unfortunate end in the former and being involved in a car chase in Italy in the latter. The DBS is perhaps the fastest car in the franchise. However, the Aston Martin DB5 is the most iconic. The DB5 was largely associated with Sean Connery’s Bond movies before its return in GoldenEye, which helped cement the retro vehicle as Bond’s go-to before the contemporary era of the 007 franchise. Craig's Bond movies brought it roaring back and in pristine condition via Casino RoyaleSkyfall—which is ranked among the series’ best—Spectre, and, now, No Time To Die.

The DBS is involved in at least one definitive action sequence in No Time To Die. The finale looks to be particularly massive, not only in regard to actions sequences, set pieces, global threats but its 163-minute runtime. Early reviews for No Time To Die have been largely positive despite some calling it a mixed bag. Regardless, everyone is praising Craig and, sunset or not, at least he gets one last ride in an the DB5. Batman has the Batmobile, and James Bond will always have his Aston Martin.
