After the resounding success of Two and a Half Men's first season it was undeniable that the series about a womanizing bachelor living in Malibu forced to take in his loser brother and moron son would get renewed for a second season.
The sophomore effort created by Chuck Lorre was just as hilarious and successful as the first and resulted in one of the series best rated seasons, including having the top-rated episode of the entire show.
10 Back Off Mary Poppins, Episode 1 (8.2)
The season began with a bang when Charlie informed him that he was having some friends over and that he should make himself scarce. Alan asks if he can tag along and gets deeply hurt when Charlie says no since Alan is his brother, not his friend. Charlie's friends (support group) find out about Alan and eventually coax Charlie into letting him attend the meeting... only to get even more annoyed by Alan than Charlie gets and duct-tape him to a lamp-post.
9 A Bag Full of Jawea, Episode 3 (8.2)
Nobody ever accused Jake of being smart, but in season 2 his character got really dumbed-down and immediately ran into problems with his teacher, Ms. Pasternak, who he claimed was picking on him. To smooth the situation over, Charlie flirts with the single teacher and gets Jake out of trouble - only to find himself in deep water when Ms. Pasternak says that she loves Charlie after only one night in bed together. Charlie tries to end it, but Ms. Pasternak's newfound good-mood has caused her to start giving Jake A's and Alan tells him he can't. Charlie holds off as long as he can, but he eventually cuts ties with the teacher causing Jake to get piled under a mountain of homework.
8 Frankenstein & the Horny Villagers, Episode 8 (8.2)
Throughout the entire show Charlie was always known as the womanizer and the series never strayed from displaying that in their episodic plot-lines. That's why it was such a hilarious change of pace when Alan went on a date with a woman he met at the grocery market and ended up spending several days in bed together having wild sex that included rubber gloves, wooden spoons, and chocolate syrup (among other things). A love-struck Alan informs Charlie and his mother that he's in love with the woman and is going to propose to her, but changes his mind when the woman calls and tells him that her husband came home a day early.
7 The Salmon Under My Sweater, Episode 10 (8.2)
One of the most eccentric (and creepy) secondary characters on Two and a Half Men was Rose, Charlie's stalker, but any time she showed up it was sure to produce a half-hour of laughs. In this episode, Alan decides to get to know Rose a little bit better (including finding out she has a masters in psychology) and the two go on a non-date/date where they talk about relationships and try kissing.
They decide to stay friends and Rose begins questioning Alan meticulously... making him realize she was just using him for a psychological experiment.
6 Last Chance to See Those Tattoos, Episode 11 (8.2)
Another episode that really leaned on the "Charlie-is-a-womanizer" theme was this one wherein Jake informs Charlie that he Googled his Uncle's name (this was 2005 so Googling was still pretty new) and found a website that was entirely devoted to trashing Charlie about his lifestyle. Charlie tries to find the creator of the website by tracking down all the woman he believes he has wronged in his life and apologizing/trying to make amends. His plan backfires when all of the woman are seduced by how genuine he is in his apology and they all end up sleeping with him... which they then comment about on the website. The episode ends with a twist when Charlie finally apologizes to Rose for his one night stand with her - and she's revealed to be the creator of the website and she takes it down.
5 Zejdz z Zmoich Wlosow, Episode 13 (8.3)
Be honest, Judith didn't come off great in this episode (not that she ever really did). In this episode, Judith was forced to temporarily move into the beach house with the boys due to a pipe bursting and flooding her home. Everybody tries to get along with the new arrangement, but Alan snaps when Judith starts going out on dates while at the house, resulting in Alan storming out and being forced to stay in his flooded-former-home. Charlie comes by to laugh at him, but then comes up with a plan to set him up on a date with a gorgeous young prostitute in front of Judith in order to make her jealous - and it works like a charm.
4 It was Mame Mom, Episode 18 (8.3)
The reason Charlie was able to afford his luxurious and expensive lifestyle was that he was a highly respected jingle writer and had amassed most of his wealth from working with an ad-executive named Eric. It turned out that Eric was gay and Charlie had accidentally led him to believe that he was gay as well, prompting Charlie to force Alan to play the role of his "life-partner" when Eric invites him to a party.
The night takes a turn when Charlie finds himself attracted to Eric's ex-wife, while Eric finds himself attracted to Alan. Charlie ends up catching his work-partner hitting on his "life-partner" and can't forgive the betrayal - until Eric offers him more money.
3 Can You Eat Human Flesh With Wooden Teeth? Episode 16 (8.4)
Being a single mom is stressful so naturally, a week came when Judith decided to go to Hawaii and left Jake with Charlie and Alan for an entire week instead of the typical two days. The guys immediately realize that they're in over their heads dealing with an adolescent boy. Pair that with the fact that Alan got a surprise audit and then both he and Charlie forgot Jake in the pouring rain (on separate occasions) and audiences were keeling over in their seats.
2 Does This Smell Funny To You? Episode 24 (8.4)
The season finale was as clever as it was comedic with the premise centered around Jake giving an oral report to his class at school - the report was titled: "What I Did This Weekend." He then recounts the tale of how an elderly gentlemen showed up at the beach house to confront Charlie about sleeping with his wife. Jake remains preoccupied throughout the entire episode as he searches for his GameBoy and all of the scenes/jokes about adultery and cheating go completely over his (and his classmates) head. The episode ends with the elderly man getting over his wife's betrayal by sleeping with Charlie and Alan's mother... which also goes over Jake's head as his attention is drawn to the fact that he finally finds his GameBoy.
1 Squab squab squab squab squab, Episode 23 (8.8)
It's hard to believe that Two and a Half Men never got a rating higher than 9 on IMDb since this 8.8 episode is tied for the highest in the series history. That said, this episode easily deserves to be in the discussion for the series best as it had Jake spending the night at Evelyn's after he revealed to her that he had spent an entire week with his other grandparents. Evelyn, a snobby and pampered diva living in Beverly Hills, quickly gets more than she bargained for when the sloppy, disgusting Jake starts 'being himself' all over her apartment and drives her insane with his lack of manners. The episode ends with Alan and Charlie having to rescue Jake and bring him home once he had broken his grandmother mentally.
