Following the latest episode of Big Brother 23, Whitney Williams revealed on Instagram that she has already voted for her former teammate Derek Xiao in the new High Roller's Room twist. Whitney was the fourth houseguest to be evicted this summer. Christian Birkenberger nominated her last week alongside Hannah Chaddha, who was also on Whitney's Aces team. Ultimately, however, Whitney was sent packing by a unanimous vote of 10-0.
When BB23 premiered in July 2021, longtime host Julie Chen Moonves revealed to both viewers and the players that there would be a teams' twist on the show. During their first night inside the Big Brother house, four players were crowned team captains: Whitney Williams, Christian Birkenberger, Brandon Frenchie, and Claire Rehfuss. Now that the teams' twist has ended, a new twist is being introduced: the High Roller's Room.
The new twist that's been brought into Big Brother 23 is asking the fans to vote for the players that they feel deserve extra powers in the game. Not long after the twist was revealed on Thursday night's live eviction episode, Whitney immediately ran to her phone to vote for one of her former teammates. Whitney revealed in an Instagram story that she had voted for Derek Xiao following the live show. The former Aces team captain shared a screenshot of her text messages, proving that she had already cast her vote. Whitney also encouraged the BB23 fans to vote for her two former teammates: Derek X and Hannah.
Whitney's vote for Derek X came as a shock considering how betrayed she felt by him just last week. Just days prior to her eviction, Whitney overheard Derek X and Hannah having a conversation where Derek X implied that Whitney would be evicted over Hannah. This ultimately upset Whitney while also causing her to question her entire game. Following her eviction, Whitney admitted that had she stayed in the house, she would have targeted Derek X. But just one short week later, she is not only rooting him on but also voting for him to get extra powers in the game.
The details of the new High Roller's Room twist remain vague. From what Julie Chen said during the live episode, it is assumed that players will have the option to play in extra competitions in order to gain special powers and privileges within the game. The catch is that the players must have enough "BB Bucks" to play in those additional competitions. The amount of BB Bucks a player has depends solely on how many votes they receive from viewers at home. More details on the twist will be shared on Sunday night's episode, during which the houseguests will get their first opportunity to compete for some extra power that can ultimately affect the way their entire games play out.
Big Brother 23 airs Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 8pm EST on CBS.
