Davidson wrote the script to the film along with Apatow and Dave Sirus, which is described in the report “as a semi-autobiographical story of Davidson growing up in Staten Island, New York.” The young actor lost his father in 9/11, an event that that obviously had a vital impact on his life. At age 16 he jumped into stand up and used “stark, truthful” language on sensitive topics, including the loss of his father.

In addition to starring Davidson and Apatow, the cast will also feature Marisa Tomei, who won an Oscar for her role in the 1992 comedy My Cousin Vinny and has been nominated for two further Oscars and has gone on to have a very successful career on the big and small screen including landing the role of Aunt May in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s reboot of Spider-Man and will to portray the mother of Davidson’s character.

Apatow, who was originally known for having small roles in her dad’s early films including Knocked Up, Funny People and This is 40, has most recently starred in last year’s black comedy thriller Assassination Nation and will next be seen in the upcoming HBO teen drama Euphoria alongside Zendaya. The 21-year-old actress is set to portray Davidson’s on-screen sister in the film.

Davidson joined SNL when he was just 20 years old, and has since appeared in numerous TV shows including Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Jim Gaffigan Show. He also had a bit part in the aforementioned Trainwreck, and has earned critical raves for his performance in the comedy Big Time Adolescence.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 To Begin Filming Next Year

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 could begin filming next year

Writer/director James Gunn may be preparing for production on the upcoming Warner Bros. and DC Extended Universe sequel The Suicide Squad, a new report has revealed that his return to the MCU with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 couldactually begin production sometime in 2020, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

RELATED: Disney Reinstates James Gunn for Guardians of the Galaxy 3

Gunn, who wrote and directed the first two films, was originally set to return to direct the highly-anticipated third installment in the space-faring comic book franchise, but following resurfacing of controversial tweets from very early in his career, Disney cut ties with the 52-year-old director and production was delayed until the studio found an A-list filmmaker to replace him. After months of widespread support from fans and the entire cast of the films and f behind-the-scenes discussions between Disney and Gunn, he was reinstated to write and direct the third installment. The House of Mouse will allow Gunn the time to finish production on Warner Bros.’ The Suicide Squad, for which he signed on a few months after his firing.

Principal photography for The Suicide Squad is currently set to begin in Atlanta, Georgia in September with a release date set for August 6, 2021.

The first Guardians of the Galaxy was the surprise hit of the second phase in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, grossing nearly $775 million at the box office and earning widespread critical acclaim for its abundance of humor, emotional story and Gunn’s direction, in addition to its soundtrack becoming the first album of its genre consisting of previously released songs to top the Billboard 200 chart and having sold over 2.5 million copies in 2014 alone. The second film hit theaters three years later and prove to be a near equal success to its predecessor, grossing over $800 million at the box office and earning more acclaim from critics and audiences who continued to praise the performances, direction, soundtrack and story while some criticized a feeling of familiarity in some of the film’s humor.

The space-travelling team were most recently seen in the box-office breaking Avengers: Endgame and while their next solo adventure doesn’t have a release date, Gunn’s completion of the script last year and with a production set for next year should see the film hit theaters sometime in 2022.

POLL: Who Should Be the Next Avengers? (SPOILERS)

POLL: Who Should Be the Next Avengers? (SPOILERS)

POLL: Who Should Be the Next Avengers? (SPOILERS)

Now that Avengers: Endgame is in wide release and destroying all kinds of box office records, it’s time to start looking forward to the next phase of the MCU. ComingSoon.net wants to hear from our readers about what past and future Marvel Studios characters they think should make up the next phase of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as a team whenever Avengers 5 rolls around, presumably at the end of Phase 4. Make your voice heard in our Next Avengers poll below, and feel free to choose as many characters as you like! SPOILERS BEWARE!!!

RELATED: POLL RESULTS: Should Warner Bros. Make More Matrix Movies?

As far as the original core members of the Avengers team are concerned, keep in mind that Iron Man, Black Widow and Steve Rogers are no-go’s after the events of Endgame. Hulk and Thor still appear to be kicking it, and while Hawkeye seems to be retired and spending time with the fam you never know, especially now that he may be getting his own series on Disney+.

bike tracks

Endgame is the follow-up to last year’s Avengers: Infinity War, which saw the titular superhero team take the fight to Thanos in order to stop his attempt at exterminating half of the universe’s population with the Infinity Stones. But it was to no avail, as he was able to successfully collect them all and snap his fingers, wiping out half of all life from existence in a cloud of ash. The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films.

Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Sean Gunn, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan and Josh Brolin as Thanos.

The epic, three-hour final showdown between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the Mad Titan himself is in theaters now.

The film was directed by Franco Zeffirelli. In 1996, Kenneth Branagh (Henry V) directed and starred in a four-hour version that contained every word of Shakespeare’s play. In that, Julie Christie (Doctor Zhivago) plays Queen Gertrude and Kate Winslet (Titanic) plays Ophelia.

POLL RESULTS: Should Warner Bros. Make More Matrix Movies?

POLL RESULTS: Should Warner Bros. Make More Matrix Movies?

POLL RESULTS: Should Warner Bros. Make More Matrix Movies?

Twenty years after The Matrix debuted, Warner Bros. is in development on a new Matrix film, but is that such a wise idea? ComingSoon.net asked its readers whether or not WB should proceed with more Matrix movies, as well as whether the new film should be a sequel, prequel or reboot. Check out the official results of the nearly 3000 readers who participated in the poll below!

This week’s header image is by artist/screenwriter Ian Fried (Spectral), and you can check out a poster-version in the gallery below and purchase a t-shirt version at this link!

RELATED: 10 Reasons The Matrix Sequels Are Worth While

Should Warner Bros. Make more Matrix movies?

YES! The possibilities are endless!!!! (69%, 1964 votes)

NO. That franchise ran its course years ago. (31%, 903 votes)

While a two-thirds majority certainly seem like they are hungry for an expansion of the Matrix universe, it’s hard not to look at that other third of those who voted and said they weren’t interested. In the short time we’ve been doing polls we have seen much higher levels of enthusiasm for other properties. That said, it’s clear there is something of an audience for these new films that WB is planning. Now that we’re in a “post-truth” world where cyber crimes and the health of social media ecosystems are front-page news, is the sci-fi universe of The Matrix really all that exotic anymore? Would the new films still be R-rated and have a revolutionary underpinning where gender identities were blurred, or will the studio gut the politics of the original trilogy in favor of putting PG-13 action front and center?

Should a new Matrix movie be…

A sequel/continuation. (58%, 1493 votes)

A prequel about young Morpheus (24%, 612 votes)

A total reboot/remake (18%, 470 votes)

It seems like the consensus really wants a legacy sequel, which is in keeping with current trends. With big failures like The Amazing Spider-Man films, 2016’s Ghostbusters and 2019’s Hellboy, studios have yet to learn that when it comes to beloved properties a reboot is not the way to go. You want to go reboot only when the series is in shambles, as WB’s Batman franchise was before Christopher Nolan revamped it. The Matrix still has enough of a following that fans would want to see the original trilogy acknowledged and expanded upon while hopefully also evolving the concept, ala The Force Awakens or Halloween. As for a prequel concept, that might be an idea best left on the drawing board.

RELATED: POLL RESULTS: Should a Famous Actor Be the Next James Bond?

Two years ago it was revealed that Warner Bros. was interested in rebooting The Matrix franchise with writer Zak Penn (Ready Player One, X-Men: The Last Stand). Following fan displeasure at the announcement, Penn himself revealed that the new film isn’t a “remake/reboot” of the original series but in fact something else. Penn then went on record with ScreenRant to say that development continues on The Matrix reboot.

“I’ve been working on ‘Matrix’ right now,” Penn confirmed. “Which is in…a phase right now. That’s a franchise I desperately want to see brought back and, I can’t go in to too much detail, but I’ve been harassing Warner Bros. for years to try to get it going again so that’s one thing I’m working on and I’ve been working on a bunch of other things too… Both ‘The Matrix’ and OASIS [in ‘Ready Player One’] are similar in that they are brilliant ideas for universes. And they are not, you know, when it came out about ‘Matrix,’ people were like ‘Oh no, there going to reboot Matrix’ I was like, Why, I’m not insane. I mean, ‘The Matrix’ is still one of my favorite…they’d re-release ‘The Matrix’ and people would go see it… It doesn’t always have to be the same characters, you could go in so many different directions.”

It was previously reported that one of the concepts Warner Bros. is considering for the film is a young Morpheus movie, with an eye towards Michael B. Jordan starring as the character. Played by Laurence Fishburne in The Matrix, Morpheus is the captain of the Nebuchadnezzar and the leader of its crew. In the context of the series, a lot of key moments in Morpheus’ past took place offscreen, including his early relationship with Niobe (played by Jada Pinkett Smith in the series) and his visit to The Oracle, who revealed to him that he would find The One, all of which could be fertile ground for a solo/spin-off movie.

The Matrix was released back in 1999 to both critical acclaim and box office success, bringing in $463 million worldwide on just a $63 million budget. It was following by two sequels, The Matrix Reloaded in 2003 and The Matrix Revolutions (released six months after the first sequel) which combined to bring in $1.169 billion at the global box office. The Animatrix was an animated anthology based on the film series and was also released in 2003. There have been numerous video games, anime and comics in the franchise that have continued the story.

Are you excited about the idea of Matrix reboot, or simply a new Matrix movie? Sound off in the comments below!

A doctor goes out and buys the best car on the market, a brand new Ferrari GTO. It is also the most expensive car in the world, and it costs him $500,000. He takes it out for a spin and stops at a red light.

An old man on a moped, looking about 100 years old, pulls up next to him.

The old man looks over at the sleek shiny car and asks, “What kind of car ya got there, sonny?”

The doctor replies, “A Ferrari GTO. It cost half a million dollars!”

“That’s a lot of money,” says the old man. “Why does it cost so much?”

“Because this car can do up to 250 miles an hour!” states the doctor proudly.

The moped driver asks, “Mind if I take a look inside?”

“No problem,” replies the doctor.

So the old man pokes his head in the window and looks around.

Then, sitting back on his moped, the old man says, “That’s a pretty nice car, all right, but I’ll stick with my moped!”

Just then the light changes, so the doctor decides to show the old man just what his car can do.

He floors it, and within 30 seconds, the speedometer reads 150 mph.

Suddenly, he notices a dot in his rear view mirror – what it could be…and suddenly…

WHHHOOOOOOSSSSSHHH!

Something whips by him going much faster!

“What on earth could be going faster than my Ferrari?” the doctor asks himself.

He floors the accelerator and takes the Ferrari up to 175 mph.

Then, up ahead of him, he sees that it’s the old man on the moped!

Amazed that the moped could pass his Ferrari, he gives it more gas and passes the moped at 210 mph.

WHOOOOOOOSHHHHH!

He’s feeling pretty good until he looks in his mirror and sees the old man gaining on him AGAIN!

Astounded by the speed of his old guy, he floors the gas pedal and takes the Ferrari all the way up to 250 mph.

Not ten seconds later, he sees the moped bearing down on him again!

The Ferrari is flat out, and there’s nothing he can do!

Suddenly, the moped plows into the back of his Ferrari, demolishing the rear end.

The doctor stops and jumps out and , unbelievably, the old man is still alive.

He runs up to the mangled old man and says, “Oh my gosh! Is there anything I can do for you?”

The old man whispers, “Unhook my suspenders from your side mirror.”

Bob's wife was very mad at him for forgetting their anniversary...

At this point, she had enough of Bob's shit. "When I wake up tomorrow, I expect to see something shiny and silver that can go from 0-300 in under 4 seconds!" said the wife.

When she awoke the next morning, to her surprise she noticed a box with a bow in the garage. When she opened it she found a nice shiny silver bathroom scale.

Bob has been missing since Friday.
