Clare Crawley from The Bachelorette has been called out for allegedly lying in the latest episode, where she claimed she wasn’t asked to go to her senior prom. Season 16 of The Bachelorette is underway, and the highly-anticipated new installment is garnering mixed reviews from Bachelor Nation. Prior to filming, the show was under a media storm, with leaked information regarding casting changes coming to the forefront. Crawley has long been speculated to have left the season before it was done filming after connecting with contestant Dale Moss.
Since her introduction to Bachelor Nation on Juan Pablo’s season, Crawley has appeared on multiple iterations of The Bachelor, making her a well-known face to the franchise. Many fans have witnessed the ups and downs that come with Crawley’s appearances, including the current season where she has become less-than-favorable with her exaggerated and sometimes over-the-top reactions. This includes becoming angry at the current set of contestants' apparent lack of enthusiasm to talk to her during the group date. The 39-year-old hairstylist has been vocal about insecurities when it comes to not being treated well in previous relationships, as well as not being noticed during her high school years.
The latest episode found Crawley opening up to contestant Chasen Nick about these insecurities, where she revealed that she felt invisible in high school and was never asked to prom. Now, a bombshell from a fan on Instagram may be proof that Crawley’s tale was actually not entirely true. According to the post, Crawley is seen in a prom photo with the caption, “My husband took @clarecrawley to senior prom, @clarecrawley you went to prom. #bachelorette #clarecrawley #senior ball #1999 #hothusband.” Reality Steve posted a screenshot of the post on his Twitter, along with Clare's response:
Crawley isn’t going down without telling her side of events, as she commented on the post saying, “You do know there is more dances in high school that are NOT prom? Turns out it’s just someone digging up old photos.” She then continues to defend herself saying, “(Why she keeps her husband’s old dance pics I’m not sure). I went to a new school senior year and in fact DID NOT go to prom just like I said.” While it’s unclear whether the photo of Clare is at her new school or an old one, Bachelor Nation is now questioning the new Bachelorette’s credibility.
The show is known to embellish the truth from time to time, and these allegations could be proof that Crawley’s story isn’t all that she makes it to be, particularly because being asked to any dance at all doesn’t make her as “invisible” as she claims. Though she has yet to publicly respond to the allegations, Crawley has stayed true to her rhetoric throughout the seasons that she has many insecurities from her past that have been obstacles she’s been dealing with for years. So it’s entirely possible she was not asked to her senior prom, but fans will have to wait and see if Crawley clears up the drama any further.
