Fifteen-year-old singer Skylar Mayton won a seat on Kelly Clarkson's team following her blind audition for The Voice season 19. Despite her elimination from the competition, the singer, who hails from Ada, Michigan, is a voice you'll want to know.
Skylar blew judges and audiences away with her rendition of The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights" during blind auditions for the singing competition show, The Voice. This little lady joined Team Kelly, who could not be more thrilled to train her. Skylar was also the second Ada resident to make a splash on the show. Before her audition, 31-year-old Ryan Gallagher wowed judges with his rendition of Andrea Boccelli's "The Prayer," and also joined Kelly Clarkson's team.
Following the release of The Voice's blind auditions, Skylar posted a screenshot of tweets by the official The Voice Twitter account and judge Kelly Clarkson on her Instagram. The tweet by @NBCTheVoice reads, "It only takes 10 seconds for @KellyClarkson to turn her chair for 15-year-old @skylaralyvia! #TeamKelly #VoiceBlinds." Kelly then shows her excitement about training Skylar in a response that reads, "My mind is blown that I didn't have to fight for @skylaralyvia You are SO incredible!! #TeamKelly #VoiceBlinds." In another post, the singer went on to thank her family, friends, and followers for their unwavering support as she started her journey:
In other posts on her Instagram, Skylar revealed she joined a band called Five Strand Fusion as the lead vocalist before her audition for The Voice. The band, based in Grand Haven, Michigan, initially planned a big debut for September of this year, but it's likely their practice was interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond her time with the band, Skylar also has a past as an actress. According to her IMDb page, she has starred in two movies: Bennett's Song (2018) and A Bennett Song Holiday (2020). Skylar is also quite successful in her music career, despite her young age. She spent some time in the studio with Keller Moore, the producer and owner of The Track House Studio in Nashville, Tennessee.
Beyond her professional world, Skylar also has the cutest pets! She has a feline fur baby named Jinx, and a sweet pup named Nash. Unfortunately, Skylar didn't make it very far on Team Kelly. But her breezy presence on stage combined with her powerful voice and refreshing smile make her a rising star to watch, even if fans can no longer follow her journey on The Voice.
