Fans now have an early glimpse as to how Spider-Man: Miles Morales will look on the PlayStation 4 thanks to a new wave of leaked screenshots. Insomniac's Sony-exclusive superhero spin-off title was announced back in June and looks to continue the story of Brooklyn teen Miles Morales as he follow in the footsteps of Peter Parker from to become the web-slinging defender of New York City.
While Spider-Man: Miles Morales is being marketed primarily as a PlayStation 5 launch title (with a remastered version of Marvel’s Spider-Man being offered up as a bonus for the game’s Ultimate Edition), it is also slated to arrive on the current PS4 as a result of the transitional period between the two consoles. While not expected to be as technically advanced as its beefed-up next-gen brethren, Spider-Man: Miles Morales for the PS4 still promises to be a visually-impressive open-world romp through the streets of Manhattan, and players can now see for themselves how good it will look on the older system.
Just yesterday, Exputer posted a batch of screenshots from the PlayStation 4 version of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which are presumed to come from the game's Photo Mode. These images feature Miles swinging through the streets of New York and using his lightning-like Venom Blast powers in combat, all while dressed in two alternate costumes. The first one has Miles dressed in street clothes and a copy of Peter's Spider-Man mask (not unlike what he was wearing when he made his first fateful swing at the end of Spider-Man’s “City That Never Sleeps” DLC), and the second is a loose-fitting red-and-blue outfit that strongly resembles the one he donned when he first appeared in the pages of Ultimate Spider-Man in 2012. Check out some of the screenshots below:
So far, much has been said about Spider-Man: Miles Morales and how it builds on what Insomniac brought to their critically-acclaimed 2018 superhero offering, as well as the differences between the two console versions. The game won’t take up as much space on the PS5, and the next-gen iteration will be able to take advance of the new console’s hardware to run at 60 FPS and in 4K resolution in a new Performance mode.
Still, Spider-Man: Miles Morales looks great even with the lesser hardware of the PS4 running it, as the level of graphical detail in the textures of Miles’s costumes and the glow of his Venom Blast attack in the dark of night are impressive to see. The game’s PS4 graphics look in-line with Marvel’s Spider-Man’s already stunning visuals, which will make Miles Morales a nice transitional title between the two PlayStation console generations – especially given how the PS4 version’s saves will carry over to the PS5. In any case, Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set to swing onto both consoles on November 12, the same day that the PlayStation 5 will finally make its long-awaited launch.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be available on PS5 and PS4 on November 12, 2020.
