The Office: What Creed Says In Chinese Translated | Screen Rant

What does Creed say in Chinese in The Office? Many colorful characters worked at Dunder Mifflin over the years, but Creed Bratton was without a doubt the company’s craziest employee. The quirky quality assurance director is a fictionalized version of actor and musician Creed Bratton – whose real name, like his fictional counterpart, is William Charles Schneider – and is one of the most meta and hilarious additions to The Office.

An enigmatic and all-around baffling man, Creed - the character, that is - is as much a mystery to The Office viewers as he is to his co-workers. Legend has it he started working at Dunder Mifflin after walking into the office one day and never leaving, while back during his hippy days in the 1960s he trafficked endangered species meat and pilfered weapons-grade LSD from the military. Unsurprisingly Creed is responsible for some of the best WTF moments in The Office, such as revealing he used to be a cult leader or coming into work wearing a bloodstained shirt – the latter of which led to speculation he may be the Scranton Strangler.

Despite his bizarre ways and the fact he doesn’t seem to do very much at Dunder Mifflin apart from play Spider Solitaire on his computer, Creed Bratton is actually a man of many talents. Not only can Creed identify specific strains of cannabis by photo alone, he also has extensive knowledge of both prescription painkillers and the Kama Sutra. In The Office season 2 episode “Dwight’s Speech” Creed revealed he was bilingual too when he gave a shout-out to his Chinese friends in Mandarin. He showed off his language skills again during season 7 episode “Viewing Party” but failed to translate what he said into English. So, what did Creed say in Chinese in “Viewing Party”?

The episode sees Erin Hannon (Ellie Kemper) and Gabe (Zach Woods) hosting a Glee viewing party at the latter’s apartment. Andy (Ed Helms) is exploring Gabe’s apartment with Ryan (B.J. Novak) when they find a bottle of powdered seahorse which Ryan describes as a Chinese virility herb. A jealous Andy pours the powdered seahorse into his glass of wine and although it seems to have the desired effect at first, he soon starts feeling rather ill.

Andy asks Creed Bratton for help in reading what is written on the bottle of the powdered seahorse to which his bilingual co-worker replies “海马不要跟酒乱搞” (or “Hǎimǎ bùyào gēn jiǔluàn gǎo” in pinyin) which roughly translates to “Do not mix the seahorse with alcohol.” Seeing as Andy spent the rest of The Office episode throwing up, it’s a shame he didn’t ask Creed for help before necking the concoction. Though considering Creed – in typical bizarre fashion – didn’t bother providing Andy with an English translation, it probably wouldn’t have helped.
