Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate's Kung Lao Has An Infinite Combo Glitch

Players diving into the new updates in Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate have discovered an infinite combo in Kung Lao's arsenal. Originally released in April of 2019, Mortal Kombat 11 has gotten almost two years of support via new characters, cosmetic add-ons, and a story expansion. The Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 versions of the popular fighting game come with a notable new batch of characters headed up by '80s action icon John Rambo. He joins fellow action movie stars Robocop and Arnold Schwarzenegger's turn as a cybernetic organism from the Terminator films, letting players settle late-night bets about these characters alongside bloody duels between multicolored ninjas.

Despite the game's age, Mortal Kombat 11 continues to attract loads of attention online and in the competitive scene. While the whole state of 2020 meant that many fighting game and other eSports tournaments and events were postponed, delayed or otherwise cancelled, fans have kept the scene alive with their own organized events. This means that a potential infinite combo for any of the characters could be a real problem, but NetherRealm Studios has been good about fixing problems such as those quickly in the past. Even though Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate may be the last addition of new content, there's almost no way that the game will go without a few balance updates in the immediate future.

For now though, players who choose to enter into Kombat with Kung Lao have a means of shutting down anyone in Mortal Kombat 11's online modes. They just have to be particularly skilled at a three-attack combination. YouTuber The Kompetitor has compiled a video showcasing exactly how to execute the combo, which involves a pair of jabs and Kung Lao's "Possessed Hat" maneuver. Doing those three moves in sequence while an opponent is in the corner will give them no chance to respond, although the timing involved in locking them down can be quite tricky.

This particular infinite combo requires a frame-perfect input, meaning that players won't be running into a multitude of unbeatable Kung Laos in their battles online. However, for those who can execute the move reliably, they essentially have a one-way ticket to easy victories, in-game currency, and bad reports on their chosen platform's user review system. The move was introduced in the recent patch alongside Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate, and it's likely that the developers are already hard at work at introducing a workaround that lets players respond in kind to this game-breaking trick.

Although things like Kung Lao's infinite hat trick in Mortal Kombat 11 will be patched out eventually, it's a shame that not only is the game likely ending DLC support, but it's also bringing the greater saga of Mortal Kombat to an end. Series creator Ed Boon has said that the Aftermath story expansion puts a bow on the whole series, and its ending makes it likely that any future Mortal Kombat titles would be some kind of unconnected reboot. It will be exciting to see if NetherRealm Studios gets to strut its stuff with a wholly original project in the future, but who knows if publisher Warner Bros. will let sleeping Scorpions lie for long.
