Dragon Ball Super changed the history of Goku and Vegeta’s people by revealing more about where they really came from in the anime. This new information was provided through the addition of Dragon Ball Super’s Universe 6 characters, namely the Saiyan warrior known as Cabba.
In the beginning of Dragon Ball Z, Goku learned more about himself and his origins when he met his evil brother, Raditz. According to Raditz, Goku is a member of a war-like alien race called the Saiyans. The Saiyans resided on Planet Vegeta and were ruled over by Vegeta’s father and namesake, King Vegeta. The planet was later destroyed by Frieza, the evil being who forced the Saiyans to do his bidding. In Dragon Ball GT, it was discovered that the planet was previously occupied by creatures called Tuffles, but they were driven off by an invading force of Saiyans. However, this reveal is no longer canon since Dragon Ball GT doesn’t fit into Dragon Ball Super’s continuity.
Dragon Ball Super expanded on the history of the Saiyans when the Universe 7 team met Cabba, a Saiyan from Universe 6. They learned from Cabba that the Universe 6 Saiyans don't share the same history as those who hail from Universe 7. Vegeta expressed shock when Cabba told them that his people lived on Planet Sadala. After hearing this, Vegeta explained the true origins of the Universe 7 Saiyans. Apparently, Goku and Vegeta’s race originally lived on Planet Sadala as well, but it was destroyed by a civil war. Following its destruction, the Saiyans left and conquered a new world, the place that would become Planet Vegeta.
Thanks to Dragon Ball Super, Planet Sadala has been added to the franchise’s rich Saiyan lore, which is already rife with interesting legends like the mystical Super Saiyan God ritual and the story of the Legendary Super Saiyan. Prior to Super, it wasn’t altogether clear where the Saiyans came from or if Dragon Ball GT’s history lesson about Planet Vegeta not actually belonging to the Saiyans was still true. Now for the first time, their homeworld has been officially revealed.
Universe 7’s Planet Sadala is long gone, but since it’s Universe 6 counterpart is still thriving, a future anime could explore more of it. This does seem possible, particularly since the Tournament of Power arc put so much emphasis on the two female Super Saiyans, Caulifla and Kale. Given how much time was devoted to these characters and their progression, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all if Caulifla, Kale, and Cabba were brought back in a future installment. Depending on how they’re incorporating, Dragon Ball can have at least a portion of the story set on Planet Sadala. What would make that even more interesting is if Whis or Vados could send Goku and Vegeta there. In Dragon Ball Super, Planet Sadala was only used in scenes with the three Universe 6 Saiyans, and was never actually visited by the Z-Warriors.
