Harry Potter: 5 Dark Wizards Who Got Fitting Endings (& 5 Who Deserved More)

No great fantasy world or story is complete without excellent villains. While they might not be the characters that you love the most and want to dress up as they are the characters who help bring emotional value. The dark wizards are among some of the most well-developed characters within the films.

Even though many of them are absolutely hated, they are also given plenty of screen time, which means audiences do attach to them. However, because they are evil, it was important that they were given a send-off that felt worthy of their character.

For the most part, the Harry Potter movies do a great job of wrapping things up for the different characters. However, there are some which could have been given a better ending, and in this list, we will look at five characters who had great endings, and five that needed better.

10 Fitting Ending: Lucius Malfoy

One of the most fitting endings in the entire Harry Potter franchise is what is given to Lucius Malfoy. His character arch is one of the most interesting of all the characters within the magical world as he goes from being a pompous and uber-confident person to being a broken shell of a man.

At the start of the story, Lucius is happy to act as if he knows best as he belittles everyone around him. But his spell in Azkaban and the fact that Lord Voldemort constantly puts him in his place leads Lucius to being totally different at the end. Seeing him slowly sneak away from the other dark wizards perfect sums him up.

9 Deserved More: Dolores Umbridge

Dolores Umbridge really was a vile character who fans absolutely hated. She tortured the students of Hogwarts during her time as the Headteacher, and that's why people wanted her to have an epic end. Her final scene comes when Harry Potter hits her with the stupefy spell.

This takes place in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, and it isn't a bad end for her as it calls back to how she tortured him about lies. However, the moment where she is taken away by Grawp was a more fitting ending for her, and it's a shame they didn't leave things with that.

8 Fitting Ending: Fenrir Greyback

Fenrir Greyback is one of the more memorable Death Eater's from Harry Potter, simply because he is a werewolf. This gave him a distinctive look, and despite the fact he doesn't have tons of personality, he is one of the scarier characters.

That's why his ending was so perfect, as he had several moments of being attacked by students which brought him to his end. First, there was Hermione, stunning him so he stopped eating Lavender Brown, and ultimately he is ended by a combination of Ron and Neville.

7 Deserved More: Corban Yaxley

Corban Yaxley is a character who begins to appear later on in the series, but he quickly makes his mark and proves to be as despicable as other dark wizards. However, unlike some others on this list, he doesn't really get the big pay-off ending that people wanted to see.

Yaxley is defeated during the Battle of Hogwarts, and it is actually George Weasley alongside Lee Jordan who takes him down. However, the moment isn't highlighted and therefore it is very easily forgotten, which is a shame.

6 Fitting Ending: Barty Crouch Jr

Barty Crouch Jr is a brilliant character that is played perfectly by David Tennant. He pretends to be Mad-Eye Moody throughout Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, but the moment that he is uncovered and revealed really is a tremendous scene.

He might not be showcased as much as other dark wizards within this list, but he served a great purpose and he was given a fitting ending to wrap things up, which made his character more memorable.

5 Deserved More: Peter Pettigrew

Peter Pettigrew, who is also known as Wormtail is one of the most hated characters in the Harry Potter series, He is the one who is directly responsible for Lily and James Potter's death, and he also frames Sirius Black, which completely ruins his life as well.

That's why his final moment just didn't feel like it was big enough. His death in the book is greater as he shows some hesitation against helping Lord Voldemort and his silver hand chokes him to death, which is something that should have been brought into the films.

4 Fitting Ending: Severus Snape

While it ends up being revealed that Severus Snape isn't actually a dark wizard, and has spent the majority of his life putting himself in danger to help Harry, he does spend most films as an evil character. He is seen as a true villain throughout the series until his death scene when his life is truly revealed.

However, the revelation of Snape's entire life is what makes his ending so perfect. He is the most complicated character within the entire story, and that's why he is a favorite of many fans and a big part of that is down to his perfect ending.

3 Deserved More: Draco Malfoy

Draco Malfoy is one of the only young dark wizards within the Harry Potter universe that is given a lot of time throughout. He might start as a child, but he quickly gets influenced by his family into following a darker path, which leads him to make some poor choices.

However, Draco's character constantly has an inner conflict, and at times towards the end, he does help Harry out. Sadly, he doesn't get his big final moment though, as it felt he would stand up to the dark side and go against his father, but instead, he scurries away with them, which is a shame.

2 Fitting Ending: Bellatrix Lestrange

Out of all the dark wizards, Bellatrix Lestrange is arguably the most demented and vile, perhaps even more so than Lord Voldemort himself. She is simply crazy and is willing to go to tons of lengths in order to harm others that get in her way.

That's why seeing her final pay her dues and get killed is one of the most satisfying moments of the entire series. What made it even more of a fitting moment is the fact she was killed by another top female wizard in Molly Weasley, giving her an epic moment in the process.

1 Deserved More: Lord Voldemort

Lord Voldemort's big showdown with Harry Potter was always going to be how things ended for him, that much was just inevitable. However, the big epic moment between the two of them just felt incredibly anti-climactic after everything we had been through to get to that point.

Fans were treated to an unbelievable duel between Voldemort and Dumbledore earlier in the series, and that set the bar for what people wanted to see. However, Harry Potter's big moment where he defeated and killed Voldemort just didn't manage to live up to that. Because this was his big final moment, it deserved to be more epic.
