Warning: SPOILERS ahead for On My Block season 3.
On My Block season 3 introduced a handful of new characters, including Kendra, a teenage girl initially thought to be stalking Jamal. After taking down the Prophets in On My Block season 2, Monse, Cesar, Ruby, and Jamal are on alert regarding repercussions from the rival gang. Jamal, in particular, worries that this strange girl is targeting him personally.
In an effort to save Cesar, Monse and the others successfully pulled off a play that also set up the Prophets in the process, resulting in many of their members getting sent to jail. The drama, however, was far from over. After being kidnapped, On My Block season 3 brings the core four in direct contact with Cuchillos, the leader of the Santos who wants the group to find Lil Ricky in exchange for the Roller World money. Even though money is on the line, the mission is much more serious as Cuchillos starts to threaten the group and the safety of their loved ones if they don't complete the task by her deadline.
Aside from the introduction of Cuchillos, the 19th Street gang, and Ray Diaz, the father of Spooky and Cesar, the biggest On My Block character debut is Kendra. She first appears in the season 3 premiere when she watches Jamal help Spooky dig up Lil Ricky's grave in the cemetery. In the following episodes, she ominously passes by Jamal on a scooter and mirrors his movements in the school's hallway. The character is played by newcomer Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson, an actress with a Los Angeles theatre background. Kendra's odd behavior justified Jamal's thinking that she could be a member of the Prophets, but, thankfully, for him and his friends, that wasn't the case.
Jamal and Kendra finally meet face-to-face in On My Block season 3, episode 3. It turns out, she isn't a spy for the Prophets but, instead, a teenage girl with a major crush on Jamal. Kendra is extremely eccentric and Jamal welcomes the chance at finally having a love interest. After a brief fling, Jamal learns that Kendra is home-schooled and uses real-life experiences in place of traditional learning techniques. Much to Jamal's dismay, her interactions with him are meant to be her form of a sex-ed class. Without a real connection, Jamal decides to end things with her before his friends can discover if she actually exists.
By the end of On My Block season 3, Jamal takes another chance on Kendra by asking her out in a more traditional manner. She seems interested in the prospect, but she's nowhere to be found in On My Block season 3's ending. It's very possible that Jamal and Kendra started dating in the two-year time span. Since she is home-schooled, it could explain why she's not in the final scene. Their fate is left open-ended so it wouldn't be surprising to see Johnson reprise her role of Kendra in On My Block season 4 or beyond.
