Zack Snyder revealed the winner of the Justice League Snyder Cut fan poster contest. The contest is the latest development in the growing, and increasingly public, demand for the movie's famed "Snyder Cut." Justice League was subject to major dramatic retooling, and fans believe the Snyder Cut is vastly superior to the finished film.
Snyder first announced the contest in January, with the winner to be chosen by Snyder himself based on "the artist that best captures the spirit of the movie." The competition subsequently received over 1,200 submissions. Naturally, this only fueled burning demand for the Snyder Cut. Even Justice League cast and crew members have publicly supported its release, such as Ben Affleck.
In Snyder's latest post on Vero, the director announced the poster, submitted by Victor Ku, as the winner of the contest. Snyder's selection came with the message, "Thank you all again for all the amazing submissions and also the Birthday wishes it is all much appreciated...As for the poster winner, well for me this is it can’t wait to hang it on the wall in my office." Previously, Snyder revealed the prize for the contest would be the slate used on the Justice League set. The slate also included a message on the back stating the winner is to be allowed on set for a series of pick-up scenes for the Justice League Snyder Cut "in the unlikely and purely speculative event that such photography is needed." The message led to heightened theorizing about what Snyder has in mind for his version of the movie, should it be greenlit for release by Warner Bros.
The poster features an extensive collection of different characters from both Justice League and the preceding DCEU movies. While its unlikely everyone featured in the fan's art was set to make an appearance in the movie, Snyder's selection of this particular poster could hint to the four prior films in the DCEU having more significance to the events of Justice League than previously believed.
Moviegoers eager to see the Snyder Cut will have to wait for the next major development in its ongoing saga. Meanwhile, Snyder's at work on the upcoming film Army of the Dead, so he clearly has quite a full plate at the moment. However, Snyder's selection of the winning poster, coupled with the prize for the contest, clearly indicates he's thinking about the Justice League Snyder Cut just as much as the fans.
