While World of Warcraft: Shadowlands has a lot of exciting content, one of the most hyped new features in the expansion comes via the Sinrunner Blanchy mount. It may seem odd that so many people are excited about a dead horse's ghost, but this is no ordinary horse. This is Old Blanchy, a name that's sure to fill longtime WoW players with nostalgia. But does the new Shadowlands mount really live up to the hype?
That's a bit of a loaded question. While newcomers may not see what the big deal is, Old Blanchy has a storied history with World of Warcraft. For people who played vanilla WoW years ago, the Sinrunner Blanchy mount is a great callback to simpler times - when all players had to do to make a tired old horse happy was feed her some oats. It's also just another way Shadowlands is surprising users with new mounts.
While Old Blanchy eventually died, she apparently didn't make it the Great Horse Stable in the Sky. Instead, Dead Blanchy is an NPC that can be located in Revendreth, home to World of Warcraft's Castle Nathria raid and one of the vilest regions in the Shadowlands. By earning her trust, and completing a six-day quest chain, players can obtain Blanchy's reins and unlock the Sinrunner Blanchy mount for themselves. While the mount doesn't do anything all that special, it's a great reward for WoW veterans.
World of Warcraft's Sinrunner Blanchy mount is thankfully not too difficult to obtain in Shadowlands. The quest chain involves fetching her oats, which is a nice callback to vanilla WoW, as well as getting her horseshoes and a nice comfortable saddle. Bringing her items each day earns her trust, and it means players will unlock the Sinrunner Blanchy mount for themselves. It's not really a difficult quest; it's more of a reward for longtime players who fell in love with Old Blanchy all those years ago.
World of Warcraft newcomers may be baffled by this blatant affection for Old Blanchy, but WoW veterans will love it. So, does the new Sinrunner Blanchy mount really live up to the hype? For the most part, yes. Anyone who's played WoW for the past decade - or even longer - should love to have Old Blanchy back, even if she's now a ghost to ride across the realms of the afterlife.
The Blanchy mount is thankfully pretty easy to acquire in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, but it will require six days to unlock. While Old Blanchy may not seem like the coolest new mount to the passing eye, she's a beloved new addition to the team for a lot of players.
