Nearly all of the main characters in Grey's Anatomy have experienced an epiphany of sorts that has helped them build a tough exterior and passion for helping people. One of the most amazing aspects of the show is that these characters have such strength and fortitude to try and understand other people's problems while also having their own. If there was any group of characters that would be contenders in The Hunger Games, it is Meredith Grey and her fellow doctors.
Alliances would be formed, as they are in Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital, and independent problem solvers may not win as easily as they think. At some point in the Games, they would simply fall apart, run off on their own, or destroy one another. The doctors of Grey's Anatomy are strong-willed and resourceful, but could they handle the intensity and pressure of being on their own in Quarter Quell?
10 Lexie Grey
Lexie Grey, one of the fatal casualties for which Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital was renamed, is one of the nicest people the doctors of Grey's Anatomy have encountered. She also has a tendency to be a pure, empathetic, and emotional human being. Unfortunately, those character traits would not be beneficial in the arena.
Lexie, while obviously open-minded and smart, is susceptible to her own mind and thoughts and for that, she would not survive long in the games. She would want to build alliances or help others and those people would turn on her simply because they had to.
9 George O'Malley
George's introduction is like many others on Grey's Anatomy. He was a fresh intern at the original Seattle-Grace Hospital, who had no idea what he was in for. George O'Malley was always gracious and kind to nearly everyone he met.
George wouldn't survive long in the Games because he would do what he did in Grey's. He would sacrifice himself for the sake of someone else. Unfortunately, in the games, no one would try to save him and only a few would appreciate his honorable gesture. Still, his kind nature would mean he wouldn't last long in the Games.
8 Richard Webber
Richard Webber may not make the best judgment calls but he has more than proven that he has a good heart and cares about every single one of his employers.
Richard would be ideal for an alliance member. Not only is he a calm and collected leader but his experiences would give him an advantage over the newest and most naive contestants. He would also be open to the idea because he loves the people he works with and likes being in a position of power. Unfortunately for him, the Games are a little different than the hospital since only one can come out alive. Richard would lose by being betrayed.
7 Derek Shepherd
McDreamy himself. Even with all of his skills, Derek would only make it as far as his temper and emotions. He would battle himself internally, wanting to help those he cares about and also trying to be the best fighter of all.
This way of thinking would get the better of him in the arena as it often did in the hospital. Someone would ambush him mid-thought and his ego would get the better of him.
6 Alex Karev
Cocky from the start, Alex Karev was not always the most likable guy. However, as he developed over time and found his calling, the audience truly got to see what he was made of. His heart is as strong as his mind and he would bring a lot of fight and passion into the arena.
He might not stab someone in the back but he wouldn't stick his neck out for anyone. As soon as other competitors realized that, they would team up against him and he would be eliminated.
5 Callie Torres
Callie is probably one of the most resourceful doctors on the show and has the most practical specialty of all the competitors from Grey-Sloan. She embraces who she is and is confident, meaning that she would most likely get a lot of sponsors.
Callie would make it to the top 5 because of her ability to think outside the box. However, she would ultimately fall because she has a tendency to go from 0 to 100 when she doesn't get her way and would turn on anyone that made problems for her.
4 Meredith Grey
Meredith is often known for her never-ending passion for what she does at the hospital. She would carry this attitude into the Games.
However, this behavior wouldn't be enough for her to beat the other top 4 competitors. She would push until the very end but would not complete the games since there are quite a few characters who are more competitive and ambitious than her.
3 Miranda Bailey
Miranda Bailey would be a ruthless contender in the arena. Straight from the get-go, Bailey made it clear to the interns that she was not someone to be trifled with. With her stern personality and no-nonsense attitude, Bailey managed to intimidate a lot of people, including Cristina, Meredith, and Alex.
Her presence would surely instill fear into the other contenders. Unfortunately, she would not make it past the final 3 as the final two competitors would outwit her with experience and gumption.
2 Owen Hunt
This contender may or may not have been obvious. Owen Hunt is not only an emergency expert and could handle nearly anything thrown his way, but has experience in the Army.
Owen has issues dealing with his emotions and even at one point admits that he would rather run from it rather than deal with being hurt. Which is exactly what would come of him in the arena. He will run from a problem and pay the price instead. Whether it be at the hands of the final competition or the arena itself is still up for debate.
1 Cristina Yang
The most likely to win the Hunger Games is also the same person who eventually became the Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Klausman Institute for Medical Research: Cristina Yang.
Cristina has the most gumption and self-motivation from start to finish. Not only does she have a high skill set and is highly ambitious, but Cristina also knows when not to let her emotions get in the way of "work." Although she would likely regret the death of her allies, Cristina would not hesitate to eliminate the others if it meant she survived. That's how she would win the Hunger Games.
