Married At First Sight: What Happened To Monet & Vaughn After Divorce

Monet Bell and Vaughn Copeland decided to walk away on decision day during Married At First Sight season one. Throughout the process, they clashed over gender roles, hanging out with friends, and Vaughn’s annoyance at how much Monet talked, despite him asking for a bubbly, sociable wife. Their issues came as a bit of a surprise, as they seemed to be the most compatible couple on their wedding day. Their marriage was a rocky one, and they were the only season one couple who chose to walk away from their relationship. Find out what Monet and Vaughn are up to now, six years after they appeared on the show.

During MAFS, Vaughn felt Monet was fake. After they called it quits and reunited for the reunion, he expressed how she was cold to him off-camera. Monet countered and said Vaughn was not “functioning well” during the filming process. Vaughn admitted he used her as a target because of his frustration with having the cameras around. Vaughn also said he “didn’t see an open side of Monet” and said what viewers saw as her trying on camera was not the reality he was living. Monet said she was very conscious of how African American women are portrayed in the media. Because of that, she admitted she put up a wall and Vaughn did not get to know her. They both took responsibility for the breakdown of the marriage, though it was not an amicable end.

After that, Monet went on to appear on Married At First Sight: The First Year. She reiterated that she would not rekindle things with Vaughn and reflected on how the marriage changed her. Monet then appeared on a show called Black Love. On the show, she went on dates, tried to find love, and even opened up about being celibate. The show did not help her love life, and Monet left without a relationship. Now, Monet is living in New York City enjoying the single life. She recently celebrated her birthday in February and posted fun photos on Instagram. She looked like she had a great time surrounded by friends.

Vaughn ended up moving to Germany, but not alone. He moved with his girlfriend, Jenny Faber. Soon after, Vaughn and Jenny welcomed their baby boy, Zaire, in 2016. In addition to building his family, Vaughn also worked to launch his own food company, Copeland's Organics. The brand's Instagram page stopped posting in 2017, suggesting Vaughn may have struggled to get it off the ground. Vaughn is also inactive on social media and doesn't seem to have an Instagram of his own, making it hard for fans to keep up with his current life. However, staying out of the spotlight may be what Vaughn needs to focus on his family.

Married At First Sight has had a terrible track record since its first season. While most of those couples stayed together, future seasons have seen one failed relationship after another. The fact that people still willingly participate considering the low success rate is baffling. Though there are examples of couples that lasted, have beautiful marriages, and now even have Married At First Sight babies, they are not the majority. Fans of the Married At First Sight will always tune in, but participants thinking of applying might want to reconsider.
