Spider-Man: No Way Home: 5 Characters Confirmed To Appear (& 5 Fans Are Hoping For)

The MCU’s third Spidey solo movie, recently revealed to be titled Spider-Man: No Way Home, has been the subject of hundreds of fan theories since the last movie’s bombshell cliffhanger ending saw the Daily Bugle revealing Peter Parker’s secret identity to the world. The casting of actors from other Spider-Man franchises created all kinds of buzz about a live-action Spider-Verse, which the Marvel powers that be have since downplayed.

A lot of exciting characters are confirmed to appear alongside Tom Holland’s Webhead in his latest and possibly his final big-screen adventure. And on top of those confirmed to appear, there are some others that fans are hoping for.

10 Confirmed: Doctor Strange

Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as fellow Avenger Stephen Strange in Spider-Man: No Way Home. This might set up Spidey to appear alongside Strange and Wanda in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, teased as the MCU’s first horror movie.

Strange’s role in No Way Home will be that of Peter’s mentor, a role filled by Tony Stark in Homecoming and Nick Fury (or, at least, a guy who looked a lot like Nick Fury) in Far From Home.

9 Hope To See: Daredevil

Ever since Netflix’s Marvel universe was abruptly canceled, fans have been hoping Charlie Cox’s incarnation of Daredevil will reappear in the movies. Spider-Man: No Way Home is the perfect vehicle to make that happen.

He could protect Peter from the seedy criminal underbelly of New York City as the Man Without Fear and defend him in court as Matt Murdock.

8 Confirmed: Electro

The casting that initially kicked off all the rumors of a live-action Spider-Verse was Jamie Foxx as Electro. Foxx had previously played an unfaithful version of the character as a spiteful loser in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

While Electro was shown to have blue skin as a result of his electrical powers in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it’s been confirmed that he won’t be blue in No Way Home.

7 Hope To See: Tom Hardy’s Venom

Marvel’s tensions with Sony almost prevented Spider-Man: No Way Home from happening. Sony is trying to build its own Marvel-based cinematic universe from its library of Spider-Man supporting characters, and the MCU seems to keep stepping on their toes.

But if they could come to some sort of agreement, it would be fun to see an encounter between Tom Holland’s sweet, naive Peter Parker and Tom Hardy’s eccentric Eddie Brock.

6 Confirmed: Ned Leeds

Jacob Batalon will be back as Peter Parker’s best friend Ned Leeds in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which seems like a given. The actor lost more than 100 pounds in preparation for the threequel.

Zendaya’s MJ will also be back, which is also not a surprise. She and Peter finally got together at the end of Far From Home — it’ll be interesting to see what kind of strain Peter’s newfound identity crisis will put on their blossoming relationship.

5 Hope To See: Kraven The Hunter

Kraven the Hunter is one of Spider-Man’s most iconic villains in the comics and fans would love to see a live-action incarnation in a movie. Kraven’s motivation is simply that he wants to hunt Spidey because he’s the ultimate prey.

The Daily Bugle revealing Peter’s identity to the world could attract the iconic big-game hunter. Some fans have theorized that, in the MCU, Kraven could be depicted as Wakandan.

4 Confirmed: Flash Thompson

Tony Revolori will be back in Spider-Man: No Way Home as Peter’s classmate and bully Flash Thompson, who’s characterized as much less aggressively macho in the MCU than in the comics.

Flash will have an intriguing role in this movie. The joke of his character has always been that he mercilessly bullies Peter and idolizes Spider-Man without realizing they’re one and the same. It’ll be fun to see his reaction to finding out Peter is Spider-Man.

3 Hope To See: She-Hulk

One of the many Marvel characters with their own Disney+ show on the way is She-Hulk, aka, Jen Walters, the cousin of Bruce Banner and a lawyer who represents superheroes in court.

If Matt Murdock doesn’t show up to represent Peter after he’s framed for Mysterio’s London terrorist attack, then maybe Jen could take him on as a client.

2 Confirmed: Doctor Octopus

Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 is still considered by many to be the greatest superhero movie ever made. A huge part of that is Alfred Molina’s iconic portrayal of Doctor Octopus, with a delightful balance of mustache-twirling villainy and Frankenstein-ian nuance.

Molina has been tapped to reprise his role as Doc Ock in No Way Home. It’s unclear if this will be a new version of the character or the version from Spider-Man 2 traveling across the multiverse.

1 Hope To See: Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker

This probably isn’t going to happen, but Marvel fans are banking on Spider-Man: No Way Home being a live-action version of Into the Spider-Verse that will pair Tom Holland’s Spidey up with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s previous incarnations of the character.

The plot will reportedly revolve around the multiverse — and not the made-up multiverse from Far From Home — so anything’s possible. It would be great to see where Maguire’s Peter ended up years after the events of Sam Raimi’s trilogy.
