Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey reveals that he’s been pitching ideas to revive the series. Posey portrayed the main character of Scott McCall in the supernatural drama, which aired on MTV from 2011 until 2017, and followed McCall as a young werewolf that defends his California town from dangerous forces.
The show ended its run after six seasons, largely because of a combination of declining ratings and MTV focusing more on reality shows and unscripted programming. However, considering the trend of reboots and limited revivals, Teen Wolf has consistently been named as a viable option for a continuation. Even though the cast has moved on to other projects in the years since the supernatural drama concluded, many have been open to returning for more episodes. In new remarks, Posey reveals that he’s had a bunch of ideas for how Teen Wolf could come back.
During an interview on the Just for Variety podcast, Posey was asked about the possibility of a Teen Wolf revival. The actor responded with enthusiasm, admitting that he has texted series creator and showrunner Jeff Davis with pitches and ideas. Posey also elaborated on why he believes the MTV show is more popular now than ever. Posey said:
I’ve always always been, like, coming up with concepts in my head for the last few years. Texted them to Jeff Davis. I’ve been coming up with ideas. I’ve been vocal about it. I think the only thing is, maybe, Jeff and MTV. You need to make some deal, you know, but I’m ready. It’s starting to feel like—what’s cool is that Teen Wolf now seems more popular than when it was on the air. There’s just all this folklore and all these people wanting more. So, it seems like maybe they’re just waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Posey isn’t the only Teen Wolf to express excitement for a revival. Dylan O’Brien, who played Stiles on the show, has similarly noted that he’s game to reprise his role. O’Brien has even offered a suggestion about what his character might be up to since the show ended, offering his view that Stiles would probably have taken over the role of Sheriff from his father. He also mentioned that Stiles would have remained best friends with Scott. It’s worth pointing out that, even during its original run, Teen Wolf would often attempt to revamp itself by adding new characters to the main cast. This was done, in part, to account for the departure of popular characters and the disappearance of others. But, in practice, it means that the series is experienced with changes and alterations.
Of course, these changes weren’t always popular with viewers. Fans of Teen Wolf have wondered what happened to Danny, a well-liked recurring figure that disappeared after season 3. Others have argued that the series was no longer the same once Tyler Hoechlin exited at the end of season 4, arguing the show lost its focus and favored plot twists over developing its core protagonists. A revival, if it happens, could address some of these complaints and allow for Posey to pick up the performance of a character that clearly means a lot to him.
