Warzone Bug Lets Players Get Underneath Rebirth Island

A new Call of Duty: Warzone bug lets players get underneath the map Rebirth Island, allowing them to wreak havoc on unsuspecting victims. Call of Duty Warzone is a popular multiplayer survival game where gamers fight to outlast ninety-nine other players. In spectacular Call of Duty fashion, the game boasts a high player count and a dedicated fanbase. Whilst the game’s favorability among fans may seem like a strength, it also means that glitches and exploits are quickly shared and abused. The game's most recent map, Rebirth Island, has one such game-breaking bug.

The competitive shooter has had its fair share of game-breaking glitches, even a full year after its initial release. Fans have shared instances of players utilizing invisibility glitches to win games as well as an exploit that allows players to see opponents through walls. Other glitches have popped-up over the last year, such as players reviving without any of their weapons. Bugs are a normal occurrence in games, and even games with high acclaim are no stranger to them. Games as admired as The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim and Red Dead Redemption 2 are infected with such bugs, many of which can make playthroughs unfair and frustrating. However, bugs in a game as competitive as Warzone can give opponents extreme advantages over others, making it almost impossible to win.

In a video by Reddit user ProvoloneStallone, the latest Warzone glitch is front and center. The player runs into “Chemical”, a prime location in the latest map, Rebirth Island. The player is then ambushed by bullets, but no enemies are in sight. Despite the player’s attempts to avoid fire and seek out their opponent, they are downed in under twenty seconds. Firefights can be a stressful situation, but imagine trying to survive one when the opposing gunner is using a glitch to win. Once the player in the video dies, the kill-cam reveals their opponent utilizing the floor glitch to stay out of their opponent’s sights and land killing blows without taking so much as a lick of damage.

Fortunately, in a report by Dexerto, Raven Software, the managing development team for Warzone, claims it is investigating the exploit and will post further updates as it learns more. Raven Software took over Warzone for Infinity Ward when Treyarch’s Black Ops Cold War was released, and it has since taken the mantle of managing the future and implementing content for the multiplayer title. It’s important that game developers take pride in their game and keep the game fair for all players. Investigating and eventually patching bugs is one of the most important duties of a game developer if it wants the game to have a long-lasting popularity.

Games will always have cheaters, especially ones as popular as Warzone. However, it is still important to attempt to stop cheaters from ruining the experience for other players. Hopefully, the glitch in Rebirth Island is patched quickly, because players are not happy. Many Reddit users have expressed their extreme frustration at losing games because other players are able to exploit glitches, basically cheating in order to win. While it’s a good sign that Raven Software is aware of the situation, it’s still not quite enough. Players will continue to abuse this glitch, but there is one way to prevent falling into their trap. As one Reddit user pointed out, if one wants to avoid the cheaters, one simply has to avoid Chemical. This is at least a functional way for players to keep enjoying Call of Duty: Warzone while they wait for Raven Software's promised fix.
