For fans of Harry Potter and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s always exciting to imagine what it would be like to go to these different worlds and experience them. People who love the Harry Potter series often imagine going to Hogwarts over anywhere else in the wizarding world because it’s such a magical place. And, for fans of Thor or the MCU in general, Asgard is another mystical and grand place that would be fascinating to see.
But if these two locales go head to head, which one is the superior fantasy land to visit? Here's just a few reasons why Hogwarts is the best choice, and why Asgard is even better.
10 Asgard: Being able to try food from a different planet
When watching movies and television series, one of the best things is to see the different food and drink, and this is especially true in fantasy series.
While many food items on-screen look delicious, there’s something especially exciting about the idea of getting to eat and drink things that don’t even exist in our own world. In fact, based on what Thor says, fans know that Asgard and other planets have different animals and plants, so the food would be very exciting.
9 Hogwarts: Having a Hogwarts feast
On the other hand, there’s something that’s hard to beat about a Hogwarts feast. While the idea of Asgardian food is amazing, there aren’t a lot of scenes in the movies that show it. So, except for some Asgardian mead, it’s hard to know what is offered.
In Harry Potter, however, there are so many scenes of decadent desserts, candies, and savory options that it makes the mouth water. And, there are many strange and enchanted wizarding sweets fans want to try.
8 Asgard: Has interesting and advanced technology
While Asgard might be a location that comes out of actual Norse mythology, Marvel Comics and then the MCU has their own take on these traditions. While it might seem old-fashioned and medieval in one way with a giant castle and a warrior-like Thor, it is also advanced technology in many ways.
For example, Asgardians can travel between different worlds, and their magic is just a form of advanced science. Learning more about this is super appealing to many people.
7 Hogwarts: The magic in Harry Potter is so useful
While both Asgard and Hogwarts have “magic” in a sense, they are explained very differently. The magic in the wizarding world is much less based on technology and science and more just exists in its own system. So, being able to explore this kind of magic would also be enthralling.
The magic in Harry Potter allows people to do so many things, and it would be very useful. It would also just be exciting to be around so many people doing magic all in the same place.
6 Asgard: You’d get to meet different alien races
One of the best things about Asgard is that it exists out in space. There are so many worlds and universes that Asgard gives access to.
Through the Bifrost Bridge, it’s possible to access all of the Nine Realms, and the fascinating people, cultures, and experiences to be had would be countless. However, travelers would have to convince Heimdall, rest in peace, to let them visit.
5 Hogwarts: Hogwarts feels like the more comforting place
There is something exciting about Asgard that makes it irresistible, but it does also feel very grand and a bit intimidating. While scary things also happen at Hogwarts, dealing with literal Norse gods could be a lot to deal with.
Hogwarts has a very homey and calming feel to it, so it would just depend on the type of atmosphere that appeals to you more.
4 Asgard: The characters from the world are more interesting
Both of these places have fascinating characters that fans would love to meet, and each person is going to have their favorite characters. However, while this isn’t judging which set of characters is better based on writing or personalities, the characters from Asgard are a bit livelier.
Thor and his Warriors Three would be fun to pal around with, and it would be a very different experience than what people are used to on earth. While the characters in Harry Potter are also interesting, they do feel a bit more like actual people anyone could meet.
3 Hogwarts: All the magical creatures
One of the best things about the wizarding world is that it's inhabited by so many strange, wonderful, and sometimes scary magical creatures. From dragons to hippogriffs to nifflers, there are ferocious beings from mythology as well as cute, fluffy animals that anyone would want as a pet. Being able to see the giant squid or go to a Care of Magical Creatures class is something many fans would love.
While Asgard and the surrounding realms also have strange and cool creatures, viewers just don’t know as much about them.
2 Asgard: You’d be able to interact with literal gods
While it’s true that being around gods based on Norse mythology would be scary at times, there’s also something really cool about it.
While some gods, like Odin and Hela, don't seem like great company, others like Thor are awesome. And, while Loki would always keep people on their toes, many fans wouldn’t mind dealing with his trickster ways.
1 Hogwarts: Exploring the castle would be fascinating
If there’s one thing almost every Harry Potter fan has wanted to do at one point or another, it’s to explore Hogwarts. The castle is filled with so many secrets that no one person can ever discover them all.
Even the Marauders and Dumbledore still found themselves surprised at times, so it would be an adventure to get to look for rooms and passageways and just experience such a magical place.
