If there's anything the internet has taught people, it's that anything can go viral, and 2020 was no exception. In a year where most people are stuck at home 24/7, what else is there to do but surf on the internet and watch the latest trending videos over and over again.

A lot of great videos went viral last year on various different social media platforms such as TikTok, Twitter and YouTube. The videos included a fake-kidnapping that inspired students all across the world to do the same, a "firenado," Will Smith losing his front teeth, and a tribute to the legend that is Chadwick Boseman.

10 M To The B - Over 20 Million TikTok Views

TikTok has become one of the social media platforms with the biggest organic reach, with users posting random, educational and even sometimes inspirational videos in their bedroom, only for the videos to randomly gather hundreds of thousands and sometimes even millions of views.

One such viral TikTok's was set to the music of "Soph Aspin Send" by Millie B, a 19-year-old rapper from the UK. TikTok user Bella Poarch posted a video to the song which gained over 20 million views on TikTok. Chances are if you're on TikTok, you've come across this video at some point.

9 Real Life Venom Symbiote - Over 20 Million Twitter Views

Towards the beginning of the year, after fans were treated to a brand new Venom movie in 2018, some hikers were surprised to see what can only be described as a real-life Venom-like symbiotic substance. The video was posted by @TristanGHill and was viewed over 20 million times.

With regular people building real-life Iron Man suits, they now need a worthy adversary, and so a real-life Venom symbiote seems more than appropriate.

8 Husky And Baby - Over 7 Million TikTok Views

TikTok gets another entry with this video from @emilyfauver showcasing her newborn baby with their pet husky. The video shows how close the two became and how protective dogs can be, not just over their own newborns, but also human babies.

TikTok deleted the original video at 7 million views, so Emily reposted the video to YouTube, and it is currently sitting at just over 83,000 views on the popular video-sharing platform.

7 Firenado - 6 Million TikTok Views

If a worldwide pandemic wasn't enough, nature had one more surprise in stock. In September, California reached record temperatures, which brought with it a huge forest fire that decimated a vast landscape.

Not only were the fires caused by record-breaking heat and wind, but a firenado was also created, just to top the year off. Safe to say that, thankfully, a firenado is a rare occurrence, but this video is still terrifying to say the least.

6 Koalas Saved From Wildfires - Over 3 Million YouTube Views

Everyone will remember how 2020 started, with a large part of Australia on fire, putting millions of animals, plants and humans at risk. However, that didn't stop the efforts that were in place to try and save the wildlife.

This video posted by The Sun of a car full of rescued koalas gained over 3 million views on YouTube and was certainly some light in a month of bad news.

5 Will Smith & Jason Derulo - Over 15 Million Instagram Views

Will Smith isn't just a great actor on film, he's also very convincing when it comes to social media pranks. He quickly fooled millions of fans after he shared this video of himself and Jason Derulo playing a golf simulator game back in August of 2020. The video shows Jason swinging an iron backward, only to hit Smith in the face and knock out a few of his front teeth.

It took fans a minute to realize that this video was fake, but none of the 15 million fans that saw the video on Smith's Instagram would be blamed if they were fooled the first time around.

In September last year, while millions of students around the world were forced to take their classes online, @blayofficial posted this video, which gained over 3 million views. The video showcases a fake kidnapping that was done just to get someone out of class.

The video caused a viral trend and all over the world, students were being "kidnapped" by their friends to get out of class.

3 Mr. Beast Plants 20,000,000 Trees - 54 Million YouTube Views

Popular YouTube star, Mr. Beast, has always been known for carrying out extravagant projects, such as reading every word in the dictionary and turning an entire backyard into a ballet, and last year, he set out to accomplish a project he named "Team Trees."

The goal was simple, plant 20 million trees as a result of the wildfires, and inspire his generation to make a positive change in the world instead of just talking or tweeting about it. Mr. Beast's video gathered over 50 million views, all for a great cause.

2 Chadwick Boseman Tribute - Over 14 Million Twitter Views

Last year, the world lost one of the greatest actors of the current generation, Chadwick Boseman. Chadwick was an absolute powerhouse who brought to life many great characters, including T'Challa, Jackie Robinson and Thurgood Marshall.

In July 2020, Julian Bass took to Twitter to promote his VFX skills with the caption "if y’all can retweet this enough times that Disney calls, that’d be greatly appreciated." The TikTok was posted to Twitter, where it currently has over 25 million views.

Since it was posted, Julian has had replies from Disney CEO Bob Iger, James Gunn, Zach Braff and YouTube star, Casey Neistat, among others.
